Biennale, Italian for "biennial" or "every other year", is any event that happens every two years. It is most commonly used within the art world to describe large-scale international contemporary art exhibitions. As such the term was popularised by Venice Biennale, which was first held in 1895. The phrase has since been used for other artistic events, such as the "Biennale de Paris", "Kochi-Muziris Biennale", or even as a portmanteau as with Berlinale and Viennale. "Biennale" is therefore used as a general term for other recurrent international events.

Abdul Hay Mosallam Zarara was a self-taught Palestinian artist who worked meticulously on archiving the recent histories of the Palestinian people. He was born in 1933 at Al-Dawayima, near Al Khalil (Hebron), in Palestine, and latterly lived and worked in Amman. Mosallam recreated scenes from daily life in his lost Palestinian home that remained vivid in his mind since his expulsion from the village of Al-Dawayima in 1948. Mosallam also produced extensive documentation of the Palestinian struggle and liberation movements in the form of painted reliefs. This “painted archive” corpus is valid as a first representation of a community writing its own history and not just showcasing it as a collection of images.
Houmayoun Mahmoudi / Homayoun Mahmoudi born 1966 Tehran, is a British/Iranian Cartoonist, Graphic Artist and Designer. He studied Graphic Design at the University of Tehran and graduated in Animation from the Tarbiat Modares University. Skilled in his own style of Minimal Cartoon, he has his own technique of working on sandpapers. Mahmoudi is married to Nooshin Moradi Fashion Artist, moved to The United Kingdom in 2004 and worked as a freelance Designer and International Artist. He is currently doing PhD research in Art and Design at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has won numerous International cartoon contests around the world since 1994 and his Artworks are exhibited in The Modern Art Exhibitions globally. In 1998 Graphis magazine interviewed Houmayoun and published his Artworks and between 1999– 2006 he was working with the Ritzenhoff Design company as a member of their artist team.

Ala Younis is a research-based artist and curator, based in Amman. Younis initiates journeys in archives and narratives, and reinterprets collective experiences that have collapsed into personal ones. Through research, she builds collections of objects, images, information, narratives, and notes on why/how people tell their stories. Her practice is based on found material, and on creating materials when they cannot be found or when they do not exist.
Hussein Madi is a Lebanese painter, sculptor and printmaker. He studied painting, sculpture and printing in Beirut and Rome. He lived between these two cities between 1973 and 1986. In Rome, he did advanced research on Arabic cultural heritage and on Egypt. He went back to Lebanon in 1986 where he taught sculpture and engraving at the Institute of Fine Arts of the Lebanese University and, from 1958 to 1962, at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts. He has been exhibiting in Europe since 1965. His art has been showcased at the British Museum, the Venice Biennale and Tokyo's Ueno Museum.

His works of art are distributed to museums and art centers in Arab and European countries, he also has personal collections where he worked as a cartoonist in several Iraqi and Arab newspapers, featuring drawings of world celebrities as cartoons, working in children's journalism and drawing magazines ) and children's books.
