Rupp competed for the University of Oregon and trained under Alberto Salazar as a member of the Nike Oregon Project. He won the 2017 Chicago Marathon, becoming the first American to do so since Khalid Khannouchi in 2002. Rupp won the marathon at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials in Atlanta with a time of 2:09:20, and qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, where he finished eighth.
Leonard Graves "Buddy" Edelen was an American marathoner. Based in England for most of his prime competitive years, in 1963 Edelen became the first man to run a marathon faster than 2 hours and 15 minutes when he set a world record of 2:14:28. Edelen also won the 1964 U.S. Olympic marathon trials and represented the U.S. in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

United States v. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, et al. is the trial of five alleged Al-Qaeda members for aiding the September 11, 2001 attacks. Charges were announced by Brigadier General Thomas W. Hartmann on February 11, 2008 at a press conference hosted by the Pentagon. The men charged are Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Walid bin Attash, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, Ammar al-Baluchi, and Mustafa Ahmad al Hawsawi.

The Libyan Freedom and Democracy Campaign was a secular political group during the Libyan Civil War. It established the Democratic Party (Libya) in July 2011. It supported the Separation of Church and State with Freedom of conscience as the best way to defeat radical Islam and Al Qaeda The group expressed doubts about the Interim National Council (INC), and especially its composition, and proposed the alternative route of the Adrian Pelt commission. This included support for the National Transitional Council to help expedite transition to democracy, overseen by a United Nations commission. The organisation also supported the deployment of UN peacekeeping forces, and the establishment of a commission similar to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa. The campaign worked with many think tanks such as the Club of Madrid, the Gorbachev Foundation and The Westminster Foundation for Democracy to achieve its goals.
