Khenpo Kyosang Rinpoche (Wylie : mkhan po skyo sangs rin po che) was a spiritual teacher (lama) of Tibetan Buddhism. Born in Tibet 9 years before the Chinese invasion of 1959 (see reunification of China), he was ordained as a monk at an early age. In the same year he flew with other monks to South India and grew up in a monastery in exile, where he worked as an assistant teacher. At the age of 33 he has received his geshe hlarampa degree (doctorate in Buddhist philosophy) and the title of khenpo (abbot). In 1988 Rinpoche went to London to spread Buddhism in Europe. Having experienced many difficulties, he finally founded in 2001 Je Tsongkhapa Ling Buddhist College and Home Retirement (Tib. rje tsong kha pa'i rig pa'i 'byung gnas gling) in Alsace, France and remained its director until his death. In September 2012 he went to his silent retreat. [1] In 2013 Rinpoche published a book of his sermons under the title Snow Lion Faces Europe. [2] This book provides sharp criticism towards the Western society, Western democracy, and consumption as modern Paganism. Rinpoche died in Saarbrücken, Germany, on 31 July 2014. [3] [4]

Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism

Jamgon Kongtrul Tibetan Buddhist scholar (1813–1899)

Jamgön Kongtrül Lodrö Thayé, also known as Jamgön Kongtrül the Great, was a Tibetan Buddhist scholar, poet, artist, physician, tertön and polymath. He was one of the most prominent Tibetan Buddhists of the 19th century and he is credited as one of the founders of the Rimé movement (non-sectarian), compiling what is known as the "Five Great Treasuries". He achieved great renown as a scholar and writer, especially among the Nyingma and Kagyu lineages and composed over 90 volumes of Buddhist writing, including his magnum opus, The Treasury of Knowledge.

Je Khenpo Leader of the Buddhist faith in Bhutan

The Je Khenpo, formerly called the Dharma Raja by orientalists, is the title given to the senior religious hierarch of Bhutan. His primary duty is to lead the Dratshang Lhentshog of Bhutan, which oversees the Central Monastic Body, and to arbitrate on matters of doctrine, assisted by Five Lopen Rinpoches . The Je Khenpo is also responsible for many important liturgical and religious duties across the country. The sitting Je Khenpo is also formally the leader of the southern branch of the Drukpa Kagyu sect, which is part of the Kagyu tradition of Himalayan Buddhism. Aside from the King of Bhutan, only the Je Khenpo may don a saffron kabney.

Jamgön Ju Mipham Gyatso Tibetan Buddhist master (1846–1912)

Jamgön Ju Mipham Gyatso, or Mipham Jamyang Namgyal Gyamtso (1846–1912) was a very influential philosopher and polymath of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. He wrote over 32 volumes on topics such as painting, poetics, sculpture, alchemy, medicine, logic, philosophy and tantra. Mipham's works are still central to the scholastic curriculum in Nyingma monasteries today. Mipham is also considered one of the leading figures in the Ri-me (non-sectarian) movement in Tibet.

Jigme Phuntsok

Kyabje Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok,, was a Nyingma lama and Terton from Sertha Region. His family were Tibetan nomads. At the age of five he was recognized "as a reincarnation of Lerab Lingpa. Known also as Nyala Sogyel and Terton Sogyel, Lerab Lingpa was an eclectic and highly influential tantric visionary from the eastern Tibetan area of Nyarong ." He studied Dzogchen at Nubzor Monastery, received novice ordination at 14, and full ordination at 22. In 1980, he founded Larung Gar, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastic academy.

Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche Abbot of Dzogchen Monastery

The 7th Dzogchen Ponlop is an abbot of Dzogchen Monastery, founder and spiritual director of Nalandabodhi, founder of Nītārtha Institute for Higher Buddhist Studies, a leading Tibetan Buddhist scholar, and a meditation master. He is one of the highest tülkus in the Nyingma lineage and an accomplished Karma Kagyu lineage holder.

Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche Tibetan yogi

Khenpo Tsültrim Gyamtso Rinpoche is a prominent scholar yogi in the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He teaches widely in the West, often through songs of realization, his own as well as those composed by Milarepa and other masters of the past. Sogyal Rinpoche Tibetan lama (1947–2019)

Sogyal Rinpoche was a Tibetan Dzogchen lama. He was recognized as the incarnation of a Tibetan master and visionary saint of the 19th century, Tertön Sogyal Lerab Lingpa. Garab Dorje Gandharan founder of Dzogchen tradition

Garab Dorje was the semi-historical first human to receive direct transmission teachings from Vajrasattva. Garab Dorje then became the teacher of the Ati Yoga or Great Perfection teachings according to Tibetan buddhist and Nyingma school traditions. The Tibetan Bon beliefs, which pre-date buddhism, differ in their origin story of Dzogchen.

She has published many books on Buddhist philosophy and meditation, and is co-authoring with the Dalai Lama a multi-volume series of teachings on the Buddhist path, The Library of Wisdom and Compassion.

Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche

Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche, also called "Khen Rinpoche," is a teacher, a scholar, a lama, and a Dzogchen master in the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. He was considered by Penor Rinpoche to be one of the most learned Nyingma scholars alive. Among other notable activities, he founded the first nunnery in Deer Park (Sarnath), the Orgyen Samye Chokhor Ling Nunnery.

It is incorporated in the United Kingdom as Je Tsongkapay Ling Buddhist College under company number 09252243. The college provides classes in Lamrim, Abhidharma, Madhyamaka, Vinaya, Prajna Paramita, Pramana, and Tibetan language.
