Kiddy Citny (born 1957 in Stuttgart) is a German artist and musician. He was raised in Bremen and later moved to West Berlin, Amsterdam, London, Zurich, Bern, Los Angeles, Munich, and Berlin. [1]

Citny is a member of the band Sprung aus den Wolken. [2] As an artist, he often uses pictograms and epigrams in his work. [1] He's known for painting parts of the Berlin Wall, at least a dozen sections of which were auctioned after its fall in 1989. [3] Some segments are now in the United States.

The Berlin Wall was a guarded concrete barrier that encircled West Berlin of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1961 to 1989, separating it from East Berlin and the German Democratic Republic. Thierry Noir is a French artist and muralist based in Berlin. He is considered the first artist to paint the Berlin Wall in the 1980s. He created brightly-colored paintings across large spans of the Berlin Wall and some of these original paintings can still be seen on surviving segments of the Wall in art collections and on the East Side Gallery. Noir's work and style are now considered iconic, and Noir is also regarded as one of the forerunners of the street art movement as a whole. He continues to create murals worldwide in cities including London, Los Angeles, and Sydney.

The fall of the Berlin Wall on 9 November 1989, during the Peaceful Revolution, marked the beginning of the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the figurative Iron Curtain, as East Berlin transit restrictions were overwhelmed and discarded. Sections of the wall were breached, and planned deconstruction began the following June. It was one of the series of events that started the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe. The fall of the inner German border took place shortly afterward. An end to the Cold War was declared at the Malta Summit in early December, and German reunification took place in October the following year.

Über den Wolken is a song by the German singer-songwriter Reinhard Mey. It has become his most famous song and is one of the most popular modern folk songs in German speaking countries.
