Kiera Leigh Aitken (born 31 October 1983) [1] is an Olympic and national-record holding swimmer from Bermuda. [2] She is one of Bermuda's most successful swimmers, [3] and has twice been named Bermuda's Female Athlete of the Year (for 2004 and 2009). [4] She carried Bermuda's flag at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2010 Commonwealth Games and at the closing ceremony of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. [5]

Aitken, who specialised in the 100-metre backstroke, attempted to qualify for her third Olympic Games in 2012 but was unsuccessful. In 2013, she announced her decision to retire from competitive swimming. [7]
