North Gyeongsang Province is a province in eastern South Korea, and with an area of 18,420 km2 (7,110 sq mi), it is the largest province in the Korean peninsula. The province was formed in 1896 from the northern half of the former Gyeongsang province, and remained a province of Korea until the country's division in 1945, then became part of South Korea.
Daegu, formerly spelled Taegu and officially Daegu Metropolitan City (대구광역시), is a city in southeastern South Korea.
Yeungnam University is a private research university located in Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang, South Korea. The university's predecessors, Taegu College and Chunggu College, were founded in Daegu in 1947 and 1950 respectively. In 1967, the two colleges were merged by President Park Chung Hee to form Yeungnam University. In 1972, the university's new main campus opened in Gyeongsan east of Daegu. The university includes colleges of Law and Medicine as well as a university hospital. It ranked 1st in the rate for passing the bar exam for the second straight year (2015~2016), it also ranked 6th in providing CEOs in Korea's top 100 companies (2015), and 6th in providing the CEOs in Companies listed on KOSDAQ (2014). Yeungnam University is ranked 501 in the Academic Ranking of World Universities by Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The Yeongdong Line is a line of Korail. It connects Yeongju in North Gyeongsang Province with Gangneung in Gangwon Province. From Yeongju, it crosses the Taebaek Mountains and reaches the Sea of Japan at Donghae, thence proceeding north to Gangneung.
Throughout and before recorded history, Daegu has served as a nexus of transportation, lying as it does at the junction of the Geumho and Nakdong rivers. Kim Moon-soo is a South Korean politician currently serving as the current Chairperson of the Economic, Social and Labor Council (ESLC) of the Republic of Korea from September 30, 2022. Previously, he was the 32nd Governor of Gyeonggi Province in South Korea. A former labor activist, he began his career in politics when he participated in the foundation of the People's Party in 1990. He was elected to the 15th National Assembly at Sosa-gu, Bucheon, as a candidate for the New Korea Party. After continuing to serve as a member of the assembly in the 16th and the 17th National Assemblies, he became the 4th Governor of Gyeonggi Province to be elected by popular vote in 2006.
Lee Eui-geun is the governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, a province in eastern South Korea. He is a member of the Hannara party. He has served three consecutive terms in the position, beginning in 1995. His name has been mentioned as a possible future candidate for prime minister.

The Liancourt Rocks, also known by their Korean name of Dokdo or their Japanese name of Takeshima,(Japanese: 竹島) are a group of islets in the Sea of Japan between the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese archipelago administered by South Korea. The Liancourt Rocks comprise two main islets and 35 smaller rocks; the total surface area of the islets is 0.187554 square kilometres and the highest elevation of 168.5 metres (553 ft) is on the West Islet. The Liancourt Rocks lie in rich fishing grounds that may contain large deposits of natural gas. The English name Liancourt Rocks is derived from Le Liancourt, the name of a French whaling ship that came close to being wrecked on the rocks in 1849.

A member of the People Power Party, he was a member of the National Assembly of South Korea and was the vice-governor of North Gyeongsang Province from December 2005 to January 2008.
Daegu-Gyeongbuk or Taegu-Kyŏngbuk is the compound word of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and indicates both administrative regions in South Korea. The region usually forms the similar political, economic, and cultural area. Daegu is an independent city from Gyeongsangbuk-do and has the same administrative status with its mother province. Both have their separate local governments reporting directly to the national government.

Kim Doo-kwan is a South Korean Democratic Party politician, former civil servant, and former governor of South Gyeongsang Province. He was elected governor in the 2010 local elections as an independent after two previous unsuccessful attempts. He served as Minister for Home Affairs under the administration of Roh Moo-hyun, and at one point was seen as a potential contender for the DUP nomination in the 2012 presidential election.
Kim Jae-Gang is a South Korean heavyweight freestyle wrestler. He won a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games and a gold medal at the 2013 Asian Championships. Kim has a degree in physical education from the Yeungnam University. In 2014 he was named the Best Athlete of the Year by the Gyeongsangbuk-do Sports Council in Republic of Korea.
