Kim Se-hee (born 28 November 1995) [1] is a two-time gold medal-winning Modern Pentathlete from South Korea.
A keen swimmer in her youth, Kim Se-hee's running skills gained her coach's attention during high school and she was later encouraged to try her hand at Modern Pentathlon. Initially attracted by the opportunity to learn 5 sports, she soon excelled, achieving a silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games [2] and a gold medal at the same event the following year. [3]
2021 saw the athlete win yet another gold medal [4] alongside Changwan Seo in the Mixed Relay race at the 2021 Pentathlon and Laser Run World Championship held in Cairo, Egypt. This victory helped secure her place on the world's stage, representing Korea at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games .
After the race in Cairo, Se-hee declared: "I am very happy to have won a gold medal at the World Championships, the last game before the Olympics, and I will do my best to achieve good results at the Tokyo Olympics." [5]
Speaking about her athletic ambitions, she said: "At first, to be remembered as a hard worker was my goal. But now I want to be a historical Modern Pentathlete." [6]
The modern pentathlon is an Olympic multisport that currently consists of fencing, freestyle swimming, equestrian show jumping, laser pistol shooting, and cross country running. Equestrian will be replaced by a form of obstacle course racing at the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Her reaction, and the resulting controversy of the event, partially contributed to modern pentathlon removing equestrian jumping from their competition.
Chloe Esposito is an Australian shooter and modern pentathlon competitor. She competed at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in the 10 m air pistol. She represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics, London, in the modern pentathlon and won the gold medal in the same event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, Rio de Janeiro.
Lada Vladimirovna Jienbalanova is a female modern pentathlete from Kazakhstan. She competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, where she finished fourteenth in the women's event with a score of 5,076 points. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Jienbalanova fell off her horse during the riding segment, and decided not to run in the 3 km-cross country race, finishing only in last place.
Jung Jin-Hwa is a modern pentathlete from South Korea. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he finished eleventh in the men's event, tying for the best result for a South Korean with Kim Mi-Seop at Atlanta in 1996.
Katherine Elizabeth French is a British modern pentathlete who won the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Gulnaz Radikovna Gubaydullina is a Russian modern pentathlete. She has qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2017 World Modern Pentathlon Championships, Gubaydullina won the gold medal in the individual competition, becoming the second Russian woman to do so.
Charles Fernandez is a Guatemalan modern pentathlete. He competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's event and finished fifteenth. Fernandez won the men's modern pentathlon at the 2015 Pan American Games. He also won a gold medal at the World Junior Championships. She won three gold medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in the women's team, mixed team and individual events, becoming the first archer in Olympic history to do so at a single Games.
