He is known for leading urban contemporary gospel choirs such as The Family, God's Property and One Nation Crew (1NC), and has won multiple awards, including thirteen Grammy Awards. Variety dubbed Franklin as a "Reigning King of Urban Gospel".

Kirk is an American family sitcom that aired on The WB from August 23, 1995 to January 12, 1997. The series was created by Ross Brown, and produced by Bickley-Warren Productions and Jeff Franklin Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Kirk was the follow-up starring vehicle for Kirk Cameron after his seven-year role as Mike Seaver on the popular ABC sitcom Growing Pains.

By June 2008, Praise was added to Sirius Canada for the first time. Until February 9, 2010, it was on DirecTV channel 827, but all of Sirius XM programming was dropped in favor of SonicTap. The label rose to prominence in the 90's largely on the runaway success of gospel artist Kirk Franklin. The label has grown to become one of the most prominent major gospel labels. GospoCentric later spawned the imprint B-Rite Music, which was used to launch artists like Trin-i-tee 5:7 and God's Property who found considerable mainstream success. GospoCentric was recently purchased by Zomba Music Group, which also owns major gospel label Verity Records. The label is currently owned by Sony Music Entertainment through RCA Inspiration.
