Harrietstown is a town in Franklin County, New York, United States. The total population was 5,709 at the 2010 census, of whom 3,879 lived in the village of Saranac Lake on the eastern side of the town.

Edward Livingston Trudeau was an American physician who established the Adirondack Cottage Sanitarium at Saranac Lake for treatment of tuberculosis. Dr. Trudeau also established the Saranac Laboratory for the Study of Tuberculosis, the first laboratory in the United States dedicated to the study of tuberculosis. He was a public health pioneer who helped to establish principles for disease prevention and control.

WNBZ-FM is a radio station broadcasting a classic hits format. Licensed to Saranac, New York, United States, the station is owned by Saranac Lake Radio, LLC. Its studios are located on City Hall Place in Plattsburgh, New York, in a storefront adjacent to the McDonough Monument. The studios were formerly located in the Gateway office building, also in Plattsburgh; it has previously maintained facilities at Radio Park in Saranac Lake and in the Champlain Centre mall in Plattsburgh. As of June 2017, WNBZ-FM's programming was simulcast on WRGR in Tupper Lake; it has also simulcast with WNBZ in Saranac Lake and WLPW in Lake Placid. As of November 2017, WNBZ-FM was the only one of Saranac Lake Radio's stations to remain on the air. That month, Saranac Lake Radio agreed to sell the station to NBZ, LLC for $300,000; under the terms of the deal, the new owners began programming WNBZ-FM under a local marketing agreement on December 1.
Ampersand Mountain is a 3,352 ft (1,021.7 m) mountain in Franklin County in the northeastern Adirondacks, west of the High Peaks in New York State. The trail up the mountain begins on New York State Route 3 8.1 miles (13.0 km) southwest of the village of Saranac Lake, near Middle Saranac Lake; it is a popular day hike. The mountain takes its name from nearby Ampersand Creek, so named because it twists and turns like the ampersand symbol. The summit is bare rock, with extensive views of the High Peaks to the east and the Saranac Lakes to the west. Stony Creek Mountain is located west-southwest of Ampersand Mountain.
The Adirondack Canoe Classic, also known as the 90-miler, is a three-day, 90-mile (140 km) canoe race from Old Forge to Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks of New York, United States. The race has drawn as many as 500 competitors from California to Florida, New Zealand and Canada paddling 250 canoes, kayaks and guideboats. Included in the ninety mile length is 5.25 miles (8.45 km) of carries.
Oseetah Lake is an 826-acre (3.34 km2) lake with a mean depth of three feet (0.91 m). It is in New York State's Adirondack Park, two and a half miles (4.0 km) south of the village of Saranac Lake on the Saranac River. It is located mostly in the town of Harrietstown, but its easternmost portion extends into the town of North Elba.
The Adirondack Cottage Sanitarium was a tuberculosis sanatorium established in Saranac Lake, New York in 1885 by Dr. Edward Livingston Trudeau. After Trudeau's death in 1915, the institution's name was changed to the Trudeau Sanatorium, following changes in conventional usage. It was listed under the latter name on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
