The NHL Entry Draft is an annual meeting in which every franchise of the National Hockey League (NHL) systematically select the rights to available ice hockey players who meet draft eligibility requirements. The NHL Entry Draft is held once every year, generally within two to three months after the conclusion of the previous regular season. During the draft, teams take turns selecting amateur players from junior or collegiate leagues and professional players from European leagues.
The 1999 NHL Entry Draft was the 37th NHL Entry Draft. It was held on June 26 at the FleetCenter in Boston. According to Sports Illustrated and other sports news agencies, at the time the 1999 draft was considered one of the deepest in talent in years, headed by Patrik Stefan and the Sedin twins, Daniel and Henrik.
The 2003 NHL Entry Draft was the 41st NHL Entry Draft. It was held at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tennessee on June 21 and 22, 2003.
Espen Knutsen is a Norwegian former professional ice hockey player and currently the general manager of Vålerenga in the Norwegian GET-ligaen. He played five seasons in the North American-based National Hockey League (NHL), and is to date the only Norwegian to have played in the NHL All-Star Game. In his native Norway, Knutsen is also known by the nickname "Shampoo" because his father is a hairdresser, and also a former hockey player whose nickname was "The Soap".
Michael R. Wilson is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Wilson was drafted 20th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. He played 336 career NHL games, scoring 16 goals and 41 assists for 57 points.
Christopher Robert Mason is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender. He most recently played with Augsburger Panther of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He previously played for four different National Hockey League (NHL) teams. Mason currently serves as the colour analyst covering Predators games broadcast on Bally Sports South.
Claude Lapointe is a Canadian former ice hockey player. In his career, Lapointe played for the Quebec Nordiques, Colorado Avalanche, Calgary Flames, New York Islanders, and Philadelphia Flyers.
Tore Vikingstad is a retired Norwegian professional ice hockey player.
Ole-Kristian Tollefsen is a Norwegian former professional ice hockey defenceman who last played for Färjestad BK in Elitserien. He was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 3rd round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Bjørn Skaare was a Norwegian ice hockey player. He was the first Norwegian to play in the NHL, playing a single game with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1978–79 NHL season.
Sven Harald Lückner is a Swedish retired professional ice hockey player and head coach.
John E. Lilley is a retired American professional ice hockey player. After graduating from Cushing Academy, where he set a new scoring record, he played college hockey for Boston University. Drafted 140th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft he went on to play 23 games in the National Hockey League for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, scoring 3 goals and 8 assists for 11 points and collecting 13 penalty minutes. He spent 3 seasons in Germany's Deutsche Eishockey Liga playing for Düsseldorfer EG, the Kassel Huskies and the Schwenninger Wild Wings. Lilley was on the American national team at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway and played in the 1994 World Championship. He ended his career with the Long Beach Ice Dogs. He is currently the new director of scouting and player development for the NY Rangers
The 1989 Ice Hockey World Championships took place in Sweden from 15 April – 1 May. The games were played in Södertälje and Stockholm, in the newly built arena Globen. Eight teams took part, and each team played each other once. The four best teams then played each other again. This was the 53rd World Championships, and also the 64th European Championships. The Soviet Union became world champions for the 21st time, and also European champions for the 26th time.

Jonas Holøs is a Norwegian professional ice hockey defenseman who is currently playing with Kölner Haie of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). He participated in the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics as a member of Team Norway.
Jamie Randolph Benn is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger and captain of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Benn played his junior hockey career with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL) prior to turning professional. He represented Canada at the 2009 World Junior Championships, where he helped capture a gold medal. With Team Canada, he won a gold medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He is the younger brother of defenseman Jordie Benn, who plays for the Minnesota Wild, and is a former teammate of Jamie's. In the 2014–15 season, Benn was awarded the Art Ross Trophy as the league's leading scorer with 87 points. The Stars went to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020 under his leadership.
Sondre Olden is a Norwegian professional ice hockey player who is currently playing in the Swiss League. He previously played with Vålerenga of the Norwegian Eliteserien. He was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 3rd round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He has played for the Norwegian national team in several World Championships, as well as at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
Steffen Kent Søberg is a Norwegian professional ice hockey goaltender who plays in the GET-ligaen for Vålerenga. He was selected by Washington Capitals in the 4th round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, becoming the first Norwegian goalie to ever get drafted by an NHL-team. Later that year he was selected 6th overall by the Swift Current Broncos in the 2011 CHL Import Draft.
