Koba World is the debut studio album by Prime Boys. It was released on July 27,2018. The album was originally slated to be titled Prime Forever but was renamed to Koba World as a dedication to their best friend,Kosi Modekwe aka Koba Prime,who was killed earlier in the year with Halal Gang member Smoke Dawg. [4] The album received a 9/10 score by Exclaim! and was heavily produced by Murda Beatz. [5] [6] It was supported by the singles "Hold Me Down," "Sopranos," "Tinted" and "Come Wit It". [7]
In January 2018,it was announced that the Prime Boys are working on their debut collaboration album due to be released sometime in the summer of 2018 initially titled Prime Forever. The following month,the group released the single "Tinted" produced by Murda Beatz marking it as the lead single of the upcoming album. [8] The music video for the single was directed by Elliot Clancy Osberg and saw the group ride ATVs in the tundra on a frozen lake. [9] [10] The song went on to feature on Northern Bars as well as giving Prime Boys an influence to further their careers and promote Canada’s expanding hip-hop market. [10] Clash conducted an interview on the Toronto Music Scene and published an article which portrays Toronto's rap underground on March 12,2018. In the interview,Whiss described Toronto as a city that isn't a mystery anymore and that he wants his music to transcend everywhere. [11] Full Circle affiliate,Smoke Dawg and Prime Boys assistant manager,Koba Prime were reportedly shot and killed on June 30,2018,in an incident involving multiple victims. [12] The death of Koba Prime influenced the change of Prime Boys upcoming album to Koba World as a tribute. Whiss went on to say that "names never die,and that their names always live on" in regards to the album name change. Highlighting that the title of the album is to keep Koba's legacy to go on. [13] The album was officially released on July 27,2018,and was also supported by the singles "Hold Me Down" and "Sopranos". [14] The group also participated in distributing exclusive Prime Boys merchandise on August 10,2018,in a pop-up shop near St. Lawrence Market. [15]
Exclaim! gave the album 9/10. Music Critic Erin Lowers highlights that the Prime Boys "present realities and future goals,with friends,family,and love acting as the glue between them. Between "Hold Me Down" and the sinister "Dead Prime Ministers," it becomes evident that above all,loyalty is a fundamental pillar in their existence,and a standard in their music." [16]
Now gave the album 3 out of 5. Nick Flanagan of the company went on to describe the album as a "friendly mixture of the celebratory and the mournful" in regards to the murder of their assistant manager and friend Kosi Modekwe. [3]
Peace of Mind is the debut studio album by Canadian rapper Jay Whiss released via Universal Music Canada. After released a 3 track EP which contained the single "Every Night" which features vocals from Jimmy Prime and Safe and "Dark Cloud" it was said to be served as a prequel to this album. The PE included the single "Dark Cloud" which was also confirmed to be the first single on the album. Peace of Mind was released on March 3,2020,and was also supported by the singles "Valet" featuring Puffy L'z,"Lay Low" featuring Donnie and "Mind in a Maze". The album received an 8/10 rating by Exclaim!.
Shane Lee Lindstrom,known professionally as Murda Beatz,is a Canadian record producer from Ontario. Working predominantly in hip hop and trap music,he has produced hit songs and albums for various musical acts since 2011. His credits include the singles "Butterfly Effect" by Travis Scott,"Back on Road" by Gucci Mane,"Nice for What" by Drake,and "Motorsport" by Migos. He is best known for his guest appearance alongside Nicki Minaj on 6ix9ine's 2018 single "Fefe",which peaked at number three on both the Canadian Hot 100 and US Billboard Hot 100.
Omar Jeffery Pineiro,known professionally as Smokepurpp,is an American rapper. He first became known in the SoundCloud rap scene for his 2017 single "Audi",which received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In March of that year,he signed with Alamo and Interscope Records to release the song and his debut mixtape for which it served as lead single,Deadstar (2017),the following September. It peaked at number 42 on the Billboard 200,while his debut studio album and the mixtape's sequel,Deadstar 2 (2019) narrowly entered the chart. His second album,Florida Jit (2020) failed to chart in any known territory and served as his final album on the label.

Halal Gang is a Canadian hip hop collective based in Toronto,Ontario. The name stems from the preponderance of the group having Muslim origins with East African and Caribbean Canadian roots. Initially the group is said to have stemmed out from a gang participating in criminal activity. The group was established in 2010 as a group of youths from Regent Park inspired to make music. Its original incarnation includes Puffy L'z. Mustafa the Poet,Mo-G,Safe and Smoke Dawg.
Mustafa Ahmed,known as Mustafa,formerly known as Mustafa the Poet,is a Sudanese-Canadian poet,singer,songwriter,and filmmaker from Toronto. He released his debut studio album,When Smoke Rises,in May 2021.
Jahvante Jahqwane Sheldon Smart,known professionally as Smoke Dawg,was a Canadian rapper from Toronto,Ontario. He was a part of hip hop collective Halal Gang alongside Mustafa the Poet,Puffy L'z,Safe,and Mo-G who come together with the Prime Boys to make the supergroup Full Circle. His debut and only studio album Struggle Before Glory was released posthumously in 2018.
Lorenzo Lee-Jae Wright,better known by his stage name Big Lean,is a Canadian rapper from Toronto,Ontario. Lean began making music in 2008,two years after his friend and rapper Blits was shot dead as he felt that he should carry on his friends legacy. He gained attention in 2011 being featured on the single "Reality" by DJ Charlie Brown released alongside other Toronto artists P. Reign,Belly and Jahvon. He is independently signed to the label Da Degrees.

When Smoke Rises is the debut studio album by Canadian musician and poet Mustafa. It was released on May 28,2021,through Mustafa's Regent Park Songs imprint. The album was produced by frequent collaborator and executive producer Frank Dukes with contributions from James Blake,Jamie xx,and Sampha,among others. The songs "Stay Alive","Air Forces","Ali",and "The Hearse" were released as singles prior to the album's release. The album is self-described as 'inner city folk music' and is thematically centered on Toronto's Regent Park community.
