Yuma is a city in and the county seat of Yuma County, Arizona, United States. The city's population was 93,064 at the 2010 census, up from the 2000 census population of 77,515.

The Kofa National Wildlife Refuge is located in Arizona in the southwestern United States, northeast of Yuma and southeast of Quartzsite. The refuge, established in 1939 to protect desert bighorn sheep, encompasses over 665,400 acres (2,693 km2) of the Yuma Desert region of the Sonoran Desert. Broad, gently sloping foothills as well as the sharp, needlepoint peaks of the Kofa Mountains are found in the rugged refuge. The small, widely scattered waterholes attract a surprising number of water birds for a desert area. A wide variety of plant life is also found throughout the refuge. Kofa Wilderness takes up 547,719 acres of the refuge, making it the second largest wilderness area in Arizona.

Carl Hayden's enrollment is 2,209 students, over 93 percent of whom are Hispanic. He is widely known for his time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he competed in the heavyweight division and became a two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion.
The Castle Dome Mountains are a mountain range in Yuma County, Arizona, within the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. Castle Dome Peak, the high point of the range, is a prominent butte and distinctive landmark. The peak is 3,776 feet (1,151 m) high, and is located at 33°05′04″N114°08′36″W. Castle Dome was named by American soldiers at old Fort Yuma in the 1880s. Early Spanish explorers called the same peak Cabeza de Gigante, "Giant's Head."

Maryvale's curriculum consists of over 60 AP and Honors sections in all academic and elective classes. Students also have the opportunity to be dual enrolled with Phoenix College earning college credit alongside their high school credit. Maryvale seniors consistently receive scholarships totaling over $1,000,000. Maryvale's staff includes six National Board Certified Teachers. Maryvale is a Performing school, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Charlene Fernandez is an American politician who was the Democratic leader of the Arizona House of Representatives from 2019 to 2021. She was first elected to the state House in 2014 and represents Southwestern Arizona, specifically, the majority of Yuma County, western Pima County, southwestern Maricopa County and southwestern Pinal County. She resigned on November 15, 2021 to take a position at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Her son Brian Fernandez was appointed by the Yuma County, Arizona Board of Supervisors to succeed her in the Arizona House of Representatives.
Edward Leighton Varney Jr. (1914–1998) was an American Modernist architect working in Phoenix, Arizona from 1937 until his retirement in 1985. He designed the Hotel Valley Ho in Scottsdale, and Sun Devil Stadium at Arizona State University. In 1941 began his career, which would extend to his retirement in 1985. His firm would continue designing buildings into the 1990s.
John Sing Tang was a modernist architect from Arizona. He worked in the Phoenix metropolitan area, and designed many homes in the Arcadia area in the 1950s and 1960s. He was the first Chinese-American architect licensed in Arizona. He received his degree in architecture from Rice University in 1944. Though many of his commercial works have been demolished he is still highly regarded architect in Arizona. His Helsing's Coffee Shop and Melrose Bowling Alley designs of the late 1950s are considered exceptional examples of Googie Architecture. Tang died in 1987 at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix at the age of 74.
