Rawalpindi is a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is the fourth most populous city in Pakistan and third most populous in Punjab according to 2017 Census. Rawalpindi is situated close to Pakistan's capital Islamabad, and the two are jointly known as the "twin cities" because of the social and economic links between them.
Murree is a mountain resort city, located in the Galyat region of the Pir Panjal Range, within the Murree District of Punjab, Pakistan. Motorways of Pakistan are a network of multiple-lane, high-speed, controlled-access highways in Pakistan which are owned, maintained, and operated federally by Pakistan's National Highway Authority. At present, 2567 km of motorways are operational, while an additional 1191 km are under construction. Motorways are a part of Pakistan's “National Trade Corridor Project” and “China-Pakistan Belt Road Initiative,” from Khunjerab Pass near the Chinese border to Gwadar in Balochistan. There are a total of 16 motorways, 11 of which are operational, while some are under construction and others are planned.
Rawalpindi Railway Station is located in Saddar area of Rawalpindi, Punjab, Pakistan. It is one of several major stops on the Karachi–Peshawar Railway Line. The nearest Saddar Metrobus Station, part of the Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus is 20 minutes (1.5 km) walk away.
The Sialkot-Lahore Motorway (M11) is a north-south motorway in Punjab, Pakistan, which connects Sialkot to Lahore via eastern parts of the Punjab. The total length of this motorway is 103 km. It was opened on 18 March 2020 at the cost of 44 billion rupees. It has reduced the travel time between Sialkot and Lahore to just 50 minutes instead of the alternative route via N-5 comprising 145 km and taking more than 2 hours. This new road connects the Sialkot and Lahore Airport junctions with an express travel mode of 1 hour, and would uplift the Sialkot city and the surrounding rural hinterlands.
Islamabad is located in the Pothohar Plateau in the northern part of Pakistan, within the Islamabad Capital Territory. It is a well-organized city divided into different sectors and zones. It was ranked as a Gamma + world city in 2020. The city is home to Pakistan Monument, which is built on top of a hill in Shakarparian, and the Faisal Mosque, one of the largest mosques in South Asia and the sixth -largest mosque as per area in the world. The Capital Development Authority is tasked with developing the city and its facilities.

Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally is a rally raid type of off-road race, organised by the TDCP in Pakistan. The event is annually run in the Cholistan Desert venue. It was first introduced in 2005 by Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP). The event is run by the Government of Punjab. The rally initiates near the Derawar Fort in Ahmadpur East Tehsil. Around 100 drivers and teams from all over Pakistan participate and almost 100,000 visitors witness it every year.

The Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus is a 83.6 km (51.9 mi) bus rapid transit system operating in the Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area of Pakistan. It consists of four routes, namely the Red, Orange, Blue, and Green Lines. The Red and Orange Lines have dedicated lanes with proper stations built along them, while the Blue and Green Lines currently run along the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway respectively, with regular traffic.
The E-75 Expressway or Murree Expressway is a four-lane partially operational controlled-access expressway linking Islamabad to Murree in Punjab province. The second section between Murree and Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir is currently under construction.
The Defence Housing Authority, Islamabad-Rawalpindi (DHAI-R) is an affluent residential neighbourhood or a gated community located within Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area of Pakistan. The neighbourhood is divided into five parts and straddles the Punjab provincial border. This neighbourhood was primarily established for military personnel in 1992 by the Armed Forces of Pakistan Welfare Department, however, currently both civilian and military families reside there. Today, DHA, Islamabad serves as one of the twin cities' most posh residential neighbourhoods.
Dadhocha Dam is a proposed dam which is to be built near Dadhocha village in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. The dam is intended to address the water scarcity issues in Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
Malir Expressway is a 39 km under construction expressway starting from KPT Interchange, passes through Qayyumabad and conclude at the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway near Kathore, along the Malir River in Karachi, Pakistan. One of the major infrastructure developments in Karachi city which is unviable for the provincial government and detrimental to the city's climate. It was announced that half of it will be opened on 14 August 2023 which has been indefinitely delayed since the Asian Development Bank has withdrawn the funding for the construction ADB decides against financing Karachi’s Malir Expressway; as of right now there is illegal excavation happening on the Malir River bed and the fields of Malir; it is unlikely that Expressway will be completed given the litigation and damage to the only surviving river in Karachi.
The Margalla Avenue or Margalla Expressway is a 33-kilometer six-lane highway in the Margalla Hills area in the suburbs of Islamabad. It was planned in 1966, but work on it was stalled till 2021. The road is an alternative to the Srinagar Highway, and provides easy access of the tenth and eleventh sectors of Islamabad to the N-5 National Highway. This road is a crucial section of the larger Rawalpindi Ring Road project as it connects the town of Sangjani to the town of Barakahu.
On 7 January 2022, a snowstorm occurred in Murree, Murree District, in the Punjab province of Pakistan, dropping more than 4 feet (1.2 m) of snow, killing 23 domestic tourists who had visited to see the snowfall. Many died as temperatures fell to around negative 8 degrees Celsius.
Lai Expressway is a 17km long proposed alternative road to connect Islamabad's IJP Road with GT Road. The initial cost of the project is estimated at PKR.70 billion. It will be built with the participation of government and private institutions. Asian Development Bank will provide 10 billion rupees for the installation of sewage treatment plant associated with this project.
Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed Road, previously known as the IJP Road, or the Inter Junction Point Road, is one of the busiest roads in the Islamabad–Rawalpindi metropolitan area in Pakistan, connecting Islamabad to Rawalpindi. It also serves as a route for traffic coming from Punjab and Azad Kashmir going towards Taxila, Attock, and onwards to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is named IJ Principle Road because it is the road that was going to be between the never-built Sector J and Sector I of Islamabad.
The Mansehra–Muzaffarabad–Mirpur Expressway is a significant motorway project in Pakistan, connecting the cities of Mansehra, Muzaffarabad, and Mirpur. The project is part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and is considered of exceptional significance by the Azad Jammu and Kashmir government.
