Abkhazia autonomous region in Georgia and breakaway republic which is not recognized internationally

Abkhazia is a self-declared sovereign state in the South Caucasus on the eastern coast of the Black Sea, south of the Greater Caucasus mountains in northwestern Georgia. It covers 8,660 square kilometres (3,340 sq mi) and has a population of around 240,000. Its capital is Sukhumi. It is called Аԥсны́ [apʰsˈnɨ] in Abkhazian, აფხაზეთი [ɑpʰxɑzɛtʰi] in Georgian, and Абха́зия [ɐˈpxazʲɪjə] in Russian.

Career

On 3 April 2007, Daur Tarba, Chairman of the State Committee for Management of State Property and Privatization in the cabinet of Prime Minister Alexander Ankvab, was appointed head of the Ochamchira District. [1] On 24 May, Katsia, who had been Deputy Chairman up until that point, became the new Chairman. [2]

Daur Tarba Abkhazian politician

Daur Tarba is the current Minister for Agriculture of Abkhazia. In the past, he has also been Chairman of United Abkhazia at a time when it was the ruling party, Vice Premier and head of the Ochamchira district.

Alexander Ankvab Abkhaz politician/businessman

Aleksandr Ankvab is an Abkhaz politician and businessman who was President of Abkhazia from May 29, 2011, until his resignation on June 1, 2014. Under President Sergei Bagapsh, he previously served as Prime Minister from 2005 to 2010 and Vice-President from 2010 to 2011.

Katsia was re-appointed in the cabinets of Prime Ministers Sergei Shamba (under President Bagapsh), Leonid Lakerbaia (under President Alexander Ankvab), Beslan Butba and Artur Mikvabia (under President Raul Khajimba). [3] [4]

Sergei Shamba is a senior politician from Abkhazia. He is currently a member of the People's Assembly of Abkhazia and Chairman of United Abkhazia. He was Prime Minister of Abkhazia under President Sergei Bagapsh from 13 February 2010 until 27 September 2011. Between 1997 and 2010 he had been Minister for Foreign Affairs under both Bagapsh and his predecessor Vladislav Ardzinba, with only a half-year interruption in 2004. Shamba has twice unsuccessfully participated in Presidential elections, in 2004 and 2011. He has been a staunch proponent for dialogue between Abkhazia and Georgia.

Leonid Lakerbaia, was the Prime Minister of Abkhazia in the Government of President Ankvab from 27 September 2011 until his resignation on 2 June 2014 following the 2014 Abkhazian political crisis. Lakerbaia is also chairman of the socio-political movement Aitaira.

Beslan Butba is a businessman and a former Prime Minister of Abkhazia. He owns Abkhazia's only private television station Abaza TV and is the chairman of the Party of the Economic Development of Abkhazia. Butba was an unsuccessful candidate in the December 2009 presidential election.

On 30 August 2016 was not re-appointed in the cabinet of Prime Minister Beslan Bartsits. [5]

Beslan Konstantinovich Bartsits is a former Prime Minister of Abkhazia, having been appointed by President Raul Khajimba on 5 August 2016 with his term ending 25 April 2018. In the past, he has served as Head of the Presidential Administration, Head of Gagra District and Member of Parliament.

The Prime Minister of Abkhazia is the head of government of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The office of Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia was created on 17 May 1993, during the 1992-1993 war with Georgia. Sukhumi District District in Abkhazia, Georgia

Sukhum District is one of the districts of Abkhazia, Georgia’s breakaway republic. It corresponds to the eponymous Georgian municipality. Its capital is Sukhumi, the town by the same name, which is also the capital of entire Abkhazia. The population of the district is 11,531 according to the 2011 census. The city of Sukhumi is a separate administrative entity with more than 60,000 inhabitants.

The Government of President Sergei Bagapsh was the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia from 2005 until 2011.

Government of President Ardzinba

The Government of President Vladislav Ardzinba was the first Government of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The Government of President Alexander Ankvab was the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia from 2011 until 2014.

Viacheslav Chirikba is a linguist and politician from Abkhazia. He was Minister for Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia between 2011 and 2016.

The Abkhazian Revolution took place in 2014, when President Aleksandr Ankvab resigned after hundreds of demonstrators stormed his office. After mass protests in the capital Sukhumi and the occupation of his office on 27 May, Ankvab fled to his hometown of Gudauta and ultimately resigned on 1 June, after previously denouncing the demonstration as an attempted coup d'état.

The Minister for Internal Affairs holds a ministerial position in the government of the Republic of Abkhazia. The post existed in the Soviet period within the Council of Ministers of the Abkhaz Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, and since then has been occupied by 10 politicians, of whom three have occupied it twice. The current Minister is Aslan Kobakhia.

Government of President Khajimba

The Government of President Raul Khajimba is the current Government of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Rauf Tsimtsba was the third Minister for Taxes and Fees of Abkhazia, serving between 2011 and 2016 in the Governments of President Bagapsh, President Ankvab and President Khajimba. Tsimtsba was originally appointed on 4 April 2011 by Sergei Bagapsh to succeed Vakhtang Pipia, who had been appointed Vice Premier on 30 March. Before that, Tsimtsba had headed the Department for the Taxation of Legal Entities within the ministry. Following the Death of Bagapsh one month later and the election of Alexander Ankvab, Tsimtsba was re-appointed on 11 October.

Shamil Adzynba is the current First Vice Premier of Abkhazia in the Government of President Khajimba, and a two-time acting Prime Minister.

Erik Rshtuni was Chairman of the State Committee for Standards, Consumer and Technical Supervision of Abkhazia in the Government of President Khajimba from 2014 until 2016. Rshtuni was first appointed on 23 October 2014, after Raul Khajimba's election, who created the State Committee out of the State Administration for Standards, Metrology and Certification. Rshtuni served in the cabinets of Prime Ministers Beslan Butba and Artur Mikvabia, but he was replaced by Akhra Pachkoria on 1 November 2016, following the appointment of Beslan Bartsits as Prime Minister.

Daur Kobakhia is the current Chairman of the State Committee for Customs of Abkhazia. Kobakhia was appointed on 21 October 2014 by newly elected President Raul Khajimba.

Khrips Jopua is a former Chairman of the State Committee for Repatriation of Abkhazia.

Beslan Eshba is a vice premier of Abkhazia and the head of a sociopolitical organization Apsadgyl. Prior to his current position, he was a deputy commander in the Sukhumi battalion and an advisor to the President of Abkhazia.

Ruslan Ajba is the current Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security of Abkhazia.

Vakhtang Pipia is the current Chairman of the State Committee for State Property and Privatisation of Abkhazia in the Government of President Khajimba, and a former Vice Premier.
