Kora Kagaz (Blank Paper) is an Indian television series which ran on Star Plus from 27 October 1998 until 17 January 2002. [1] It was directed by Asha Parekh. [2] [3] The series had 169 episodes which starred Renuka Shahane, Salil Ankola and Amit Behl. [4] [5] The serial was first telecasted on every Tuesday at 8.30 pm IST and later shifting to every Thursday at 9 pm IST.
The wedding of Mahesh and Pooja is held with all the pomp and tradition associated with Indian weddings. The night after the wedding, Pooja, a nervous bride, waits for her husband to join her. He comes very late, and when he does, it is to tell her that he is in love with another girl. He tells Pooja bluntly that he never wanted to marry her in the first place and walks out, leaving behind a distraught and confused young bride trying to come to grips with this new reality.
Pooja refuses to return to her parents. She continues to reside with Mahesh's family, consisting of his parents and younger brother Ravi. She decides to continue her studies, find a job and get her life back together again. All members of Mahesh's family are supportive and well-disposed towards Pooja. They were unaware of his affair with the other girl. In particular, Pooja gets tremendous moral and emotional support from her brother-in-law Ravi, and an attraction forming between them becomes evident as the serial progresses. Where will this attraction lead them, and what does Pooja do when Mahesh suddenly arrives back into her life?
What does Pooja do? What choices does she make? Will she find fulfillment?
Salil Ashok Ankola is a former international cricketer who played one Test match and 20 One Day Internationals (ODIs) from 1989 to 1997 for India. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, he played first-class cricket for Mumbai, regularly opening the bowling. Ankola's consistency for Mumbai team earned him a spot for representing India during their tour of Pakistan in 1989–90. After the first Test match at Karachi, he was dropped for the subsequent matches in the series owing to injuries. After a brief phase of playing first-class cricket, Ankola was called for the Indian ODI team during 1993, eventually led to being a part of the 1996 Cricket World Cup. At 28, Ankola retired from international cricket to pursue acting. Since then he went on to appear in a number of Indian soap operas and a few Hindi films. In 2020, he was selected as the chief selector of the Mumbai Cricket Association. He was a selector of the National team from January 2023 till August 2024.
Renuka Shahane is an Indian actress who is widely known for her work in the Hindi and Marathi films and several television productions. She is best known as the co-presenter of the Doordarshan TV show Surabhi (1993–2001). She has received several awards and nominations including a Filmfare Award Marathi.
Asha Parekh is an Indian actress, film director, and producer who worked in Hindi films. Regarded as one of Hindi cinema's finest actresses, Parekh has worked in more than 85 films, in a career spanning over four decades. Parekh has received several accolades including two Filmfare Awards. In 1992, she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India for her contribution to the field of cinema and was honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2020.
