Dr. Anuj Saxena is an Indian actor, producer, and businessman. [1] [2]

Saxena made his acting debut in 1993 in the comedy TV series Dekh Bhai Dekh . He became famous for his role of Abhay Kapoor in Sony Entertainment Television's serial Kkusum and has appeared in sixteen TV serials including Kshitij, Karm and Aasmaan Se Aagay. His first film appearance was in Chase in 2010. In 2005, he launched his own production house, Maverick Productions. [1]

He married Ishmit Dhadial in 2004, but the couple divorced a year later in 2005. [3]

Saxena is also the COO of pharmaceutical company Elder Pharmaceuticals, and was involved in a cheque bounce and fraud case related to the company. [4] A bureaucrat, B.K. Bansal, investigating Elder Pharma fraud committed suicide in September 2016. [5] The company had tried to bribe him earlier. [5] Saxena is wanted by investigating agency CBI in the case, [6] and a non-bailable warrant was issued by court for him in October 2016. [7]

The 2G spectrum case was a political controversy in which politicians and private officials of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) coalition government India were allegedly involved in selling or allotting 122 2G spectrum licenses on conditions that provided an advantage to specific telecom operators. A. Raja, then Telecom Minister, was accused of selling 2G spectrum licenses at a very low cost which resulted in the loss of ₹1,760 billion in government revenue. Raja was also accused of not following rules and regulations as well as not recognizing any advice from the Ministries of Finance and Law and Justice of India while allotting 2G spectrum licenses to telecom operators. The Punjab National Bank Fraud Case relates to fraudulent letter of undertaking worth ₹12,000 crore issued by the Punjab National Bank at its Brady House branch in Fort, Mumbai; making Punjab National Bank liable for the amount. The fraud was allegedly organized by jeweller and designer Nirav Modi. Nirav, his wife Ami Modi, brother Nishal Modi and uncle Mehul Choksi, all partners of the firms, M/s Diamond R US, M/s Solar Exports and M/s Stellar Diamonds; along with PNB officials and employees, and directors of Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi's firms have all been named in a charge sheet by the CBI. Nirav Modi and his family absconded in early 2018, days before the news of the scam broke in India.

Mehul Chinubhai Choksi is an Indian-born businessman living in Antigua and Barbuda, who is wanted by the Indian judicial authorities for criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating and dishonesty including delivery of property, corruption and money laundering. In an interview, Choksi claimed that he is innocent and all allegations against him are false, baseless and motivated by political expediency. Choksi has held Antiguan citizenship since 2017. He is the owner of Gitanjali Group, a retail jewellery company with 4,000 stores in India. An arrest warrant for Choksi has been issued in connection with the alleged Punjab National Bank fraud case. He was allegedly involved in stock market manipulation in 2013. In late May 2021, he went missing from Antigua and Barbuda. Choksi claims that he was kidnapped from Antigua by agents of the Indian state, while others stated that he fled the country. After being found and arrested in Dominica under charges of illegal entry he was then returned to Antigua and Barbuda on interim bail for medical treatment. In May 2022 the charge of illegal entry was dropped by the Dominican Government. Investigations into his disappearance are ongoing.

The INX Media case refers to an ongoing high-profile money laundering investigation in India. It involves allegation of irregularities in foreign exchange clearances given to INX Media group for receiving overseas investment in 2007. P. Chidambaram was union finance minister at the time. His son Karti Chidambaram has been implicated by the investigating agencies.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Death of Sushant Singh Rajput</span> 2020 death of Indian actor

On 14 June 2020, Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his room in Bandra, Mumbai, aged 34. The cause of death was ruled as suicide, with official postmortem reports confirming Rajput died of asphyxia due to hanging. The Mumbai Police launched an investigation into the death, which had become a subject of widespread speculation and rumours.

The TRP manipulation scam of 2020 involved the alleged inflation by some television channels of their viewership ratings. The investigation was based on a complaint filed with the Mumbai Police. The 70% revenue for television channels coming from advertising highlights the importance of Target Rating Point (TRP) for television channels.
