Kottayam Ramesh is an Indian film actor, who works predominantly in Malayalam films, and has also worked as a television actor and theatre artist. He was widely acclaimed for his role as driver Kumaran in the film Ayyappanum Koshiyum . He received the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi's Kala Pratibha Award in 2024. [1] [2] [3]
Ramesh was born and raised in Kottayam. After completing his tenth grade, he worked as a theatre actor for a long time at the Kalanilayam Nadakavedhi . He first stepped in front of the camera with the film Thaalappoli released in 1975. Later, in the 1980s, he played a small role in the film Chillu Kottaram with Sukumaran, and after that in the film Najangalude Kochu Doctor in 1989. [4] Later, in 2018, he played a small role in the film Carbon directed by Venu. [5] Noticing his role in that film, Sachy called him for the film Ayyappanum Koshiyum. [6]
