Kpor is a community in Gokana local government area, in Rivers State, Nigeria. [1]

Kpor shares a boundary with Mogho, Bomu, K-dere, and Bera. [2]

Kpor is the headquarters of the Gokana local government area, [3] and is under the Rivers South East Senatorial District and Barinaada Mpigi is the current senator representing its District. [4] [5] They are mainly farmers and fishermen. [6] They believe that there is a God called Bari who created the world. [6] There are some traditional worshippers and also secret cult festival called aminikpo. [6]

Gokana kingdom is among the six kingdoms of the Ogoni people in Ogoni in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Gokana kingdom has geographic, historic and ethno-linguistic elements with some 130,000 Gokana language speakers located in the Gokana Local Government Area in Rivers State. Gokana contains a tremendous number of villages, including Lewe, B.Dere (Barayowa-Dere), K. Dere (Kegbara-Dere), Nwe-biara Kpor, Mogho, Bomu, Bodo, Gio-koo, Nwe-ol, Bera, Biara, Deeyor, Gbe, Goi, Barako, Deken, and Yeghe.

Kenneth Bie Kobani is a Nigerian politician of the People's Democratic Party. He is a former Rivers State Commissioner of Finance, and was previously a Commissioner of Commerce and Industry. He was a former National Treasurer of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).He served as a minister in the Cabinet of President Jonathan, serving as the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment. He is a former Secretary to the State Government in Rivers State, a position to which he was appointed in June 2015. and left office in 2019.

Elections in Rivers State are supervised and conducted by two major electoral bodies, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). There are 23 local government areas, 319 electoral wards and 4442 polling units in the state. Fred Barivure Kpakol is an accountant and politician. He served as Rivers State Finance Commissioner between 2015 and 2019.He also served as the Commissioner for Agriculture between 2019 and 2022. He is a native of B-Dere in Gokana. He studied accounting and finance at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and graduated with a B.Sc. in Accounting and Finance. He went further to do his master's degree in Banking and Finance at Federal University of Technology Owerri and he later had his Ph.D. degree in Banking,Finance and Taxation from Rivers State University of Science and Technology. Kpakol is affiliated with the People's Democratic Party and has served as Chairman of Gokana local government area. He is also a former Secretary of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria Rivers State Branch.

The Rivers State gubernatorial election took place on 9 March 2019, concurrently with various other Nigerian state level elections. A rerun of the vote was held in Abua–Odual, Ahoada West, Gokana and Opobo–Nkoro on 13 April. One-term incumbent Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike of the People's Democratic Party was eligible to run for re-election. He won in 2015 with 87.77% of the vote.

Dumnamene Robinson Dekor also known as Rt. Hon. Dum Dekor is a Nigerian politician who was Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 2007 to 2011. He represented Khana II in the 6th Rivers State House of Assembly. On 15 September 2017, he was sworn in as a commissioner-designee by Governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and on 20 September, he was assigned to the Rivers State Ministry of Works. Rt. Hon. Dum Dekor was elected to the House of Representatives as member representing Khana/Gokana Federal Constituency of Rivers State since 2019. He is a member of Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The 2023 Rivers State gubernatorial election will take place on 18 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Rivers State, concurrent with elections to the Rivers State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. The election—which was postponed from its original 11 March date—will be held three weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Hon Bernard Barida Mikko is a Nigerian politician and businessman from Gokana LGA in Rivers State. He served as a member of the 4th parliament of the Nigerian National Assembly delegation from Rivers state, representing Khana/Gokana constituency from 1999 to 2003. In 2022, Mikko declared his interest to participate in the 2023 Rivers State gubernatorial election under APC, however, Tonye Cole won the primary election and emerged as the party's candidate..
