Krishna Das is a Bharatiya Janata Party politician from Assam. He is the former chairman of the Karimganj Municipal Board, and has been fielded as the candidate from the Karimganj constituency (reserved for Scheduled Castes) by his party in the 2014 Indian general election. [1]

He is currently a member of the State Executive Board of BJP in Assam. Additionally, he is the chairperson of the SC Board of Karimganj district.

The Barak Valley is located in the southern region of the Indian state of Assam. The region is named after the Barak river. The Barak valley consists of three administrative districts of Assam - namely Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi. The main, largest and capital city of the Valley is Silchar. Once North Cachar Hills was a part of the valley but In 1951 erstwhile Sub-Division was made a separate district and eventually curved out of Cachar. On 1 July 1983, Karimganj district was curved out from the eponymous subdivision of Cachar Valley. This was again repeated in 1989 with the creation of Hailakandi district.

Assam University is a collegiate central public university located at Silchar, Assam, India. It was founded in the year 1994 by the provisions of an act enacted by the Parliament of India. The Governor of Assam is the Chief Rector and the President of India is acting as the Visitor of the university. Karimganj Junction railway station serves the Indian city of Karimganj in Assam. It belongs to Lumding railway division of Northeast Frontier Railway zone. It is located in Karimganj district. It is the second biggest railway station in Karimganj District, after Badarpur Junction. It is also one of the three railway stations serving the city of Karimganj, the others being Longai and New Karimganj. It is one of the oldest railway station in India built under Assam Bengal Railway. It is the main railway station of Karimganj Town. It consists of two platforms with a total of 12 halting trains. It serves as the main halt for all passenger trains from Silchar, Agartala, Dharmanagar, Dullabcherra, Badarpur, and Mahisasan. The station consists of a single diesel line.

Najib Ali Choudhury was a 19th-century Bengali Islamic scholar and teacher. He was notable for his founding of the Madinatul Uloom Bagbari, the first madrasa in the Barak Valley region.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Abdul Jalil Choudhury</span> Indian Islamic scholar and politician

ʿAbd al-Jalīl ibn Aṣghar Choudhury al-Badarfūrī, or simply Abdul Jalil Choudhury Badarpuri, was a Bengali Deobandi Islamic scholar, teacher and politician. Born in what is now Bangladesh, Choudhury became one of the senior disciples of Hussain Ahmed Madani from Sylhet District. He relocated to Badarpur, Karimganj following the Partition of Bengal in 1947 and served as a member of the Assam Legislative Assembly for several terms. Choudhury has many contributions in Northeast India, covering Islamic and social development, and had participated in the Bengali Language Movement of the Barak Valley.
