Vasudevan Baskaran is a former field hockey player and coach from Tamil Nadu, India. He captained the Indian national team, which won the gold medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, then part of the Soviet Union.

Charles Borromeo is a former Indian track and field athlete. He was awarded Arjuna Award in 1982 for winning gold at the 1982 Asian Games in Delhi at a record time of 1:46:81 seconds in India. He represented India in the 1984 Summer Olympics at Los Angeles. His time in the limelight may be short, yet his efforts won him the prestigious Padma Shri civilian award in India in 1984. After retirement, he continued to work in developing sports at the national level in India. He served as the National Sports Director of Special Olympics Bharat, a programme run by the Special Olympics International in India.
G E Sridharan is a former India men's national volleyball team player from Tamil Nadu, India who played during the late 1970s to late 1980s. He was the second player from Tamil Nadu to receive Arjuna Award in 1982. He is the current coach for India men's national volleyball team and former coach for Tamil Nadu Volleball team. He's one of the efficient coach who took Indian youth volleyball to a new height winning gold in Asian volleyball Championship. He was awarded Dronacharya Award in 2008, which many people feel its given too late in his life, seeing his achievements list lying before.

Prior to this he had competed in several local, national and regional competitions. In 1972, he became the first Adivasi sportsperson to be awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award.

Charles Cornelius is an Olympic Medalist and Former Indian Hockey Goal Keeper who represented the Indian national hockey team in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games and 1973 Hockey World Cup. Ekambaram Karunakaran is an Indian former weightlifter. He competed in the men's flyweight event at the 1980 Summer Olympics. He was the first Indian to win the gold medal in an international competition in weightlifting. This was in the Commonwealth games in Edmonton, Canada in 1978. Karunakaran's career spanned over a decade. He was conferred with the Arjuna Award in the year 1978-79 by the Government of India.
Kanaa is a 2018 Indian Tamil-language sports drama film starring Sathyaraj, Aishwarya Rajesh, Sivakarthikeyan, and Darshan. The film is written and directed by Arunraja Kamaraj, who is directing for the first time. It was released theatrically on 21 December 2018. The film has music composed by Dhibu Ninan Thomas, cinematography by Dinesh B. Krishnan, editing by Ruben and production by Sivakarthikeyan under his newly established Sivakarthikeyan Productions banner. It was remade in Telugu as Kousalya Krishnamurthy, with Aishwarya and Sivakarthikeyan reprising their roles.
R. Krishnamurthy was a former editor of the Tamil daily Dinamalar and also a renowned Tamil script epigraphist and numismatist in India. The second son of Dinamalar founder, T. V. Ramasubbaiyer, he became editor of Dinamalar in 1977.
