Kukrail is a left-bank small tributary of the Gomti River which merges with it in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. [1]
The river originates from a well near Dasaur Baba Pond in Asti village in Bakshi Ka Talab of Lucknow. It then travels around 6km through the Kukrail Reserve Forest. It flows around 28km-long course before it joins the Gomti river. [2] [3]
According to local folklore, the river was originated about 200 years ago. It was first documented in a 1904 gazetteer. In 1960, it's water level reached 113.2 metres, which lead to the construction of embankments along the river in 1962. In 1980, the land between the Kukrail and other tributaries of Gomti, called the Municipal Sled Farm, was given to the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) for development. [3]
In 2024, 50 metres area along Kukrail river was declared flood plain. The Lucknow Development Authority conducted a massive demolition drive in Akbarnagar area as apart of it, where over 1,800 illegal structures were removed. [2]

The Gomti, Gumti or Gomati River is a tributary of the Ganges. According to Hindu belief, the river is the daughter of Rishi Vashishtha and bathing in the Gomti on Ekadashi can wash away sins. According to the Bhagavata Purana, one of Hinduism's major religious works, Gomti is one of the five transcendental rivers of India. The rare Gomti Chakra is found there.

Kukrail Reserve Forest, an urban forest created in 1950s as a plantation forest, is located about 9 km northwest from Lucknow city centre in the Uttar Pradesh state of India. It has a captive breeding and conservation center for the freshwater gharials, one of the 3 native species of crocodiles in India.The Kukrail river flows through it.
The Fun Republic Mall is a shopping mall located at Vipin Khand in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. The mall has a Built-up area of more than 970,000 sq ft, including 5,80,000 sq ft of gross leasable (retail) area. It was inaugurated in 2007. It was built by Zee Group in the mid-2000s at a cost of Rs 800 million. It comprises retail outlets, cinema, food court and 60-room boutique hotel. The gaming zone that previously existed is now discontinued. It has parking for 550 cars and average footfall of 25,000-28,000 on weekdays and 37,000-40,000 on weekends.

Dharmveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road is a 8-lane, 29.2-km long grade separated expressway along Mumbai's western coastline connecting Marine Lines in the south to Kandivali in the north. It is projected to be used by 130,000 vehicles daily, and is expected to reduce travel time between South Mumbai and the Western Suburbs from 2 hours to only 40 minutes. The estimated cost of the project is ₹13,060 crore (US$1.6 billion). Its first phase, which is inaugurated on 11 March 2024, is a 10.58 km section from Princess Street flyover to the Worli end of the Bandra–Worli Sea Link.
