Kumudini Welfare Trust is one of the oldest and largest charitable organisations in Bangladesh and is located in Tangail District. [1] [2] [3]
Ranadaprasad Saha, philanthropist and businessman, founded the charity in 1947 in Bengal [4] as Kumudini Welfare Trust of Bengal. It was named after his mother Kumudini. From 1971 to 1999 the trust was managed by Saha's daughter, Joya Pati. From 2000 Rajiv Prashad Shaha, the grandson of Ranadaprasad Saha, has headed the trust. The trust manages Kumudini Hospital, Bharateswari Homes, Ranada Prasad Shaha University, Nursing School, Women's Medical College, Trade training School, and Kumudini Handicrafts. [5] [1]

He founded educational institutes like Bharateswari Homes, Kumudini College and Debendra College. 7 May 1971 the collaborators of Pakistani occupation army from Mirzapur abducted RP Saha and his son Bhavani Prasad Saha and no news about their whereabout has been unearthed till now.

Bharateswari Homes is a boarding school for girls located in Mirzapur, Tangail District, Bangladesh. The school was established in 1945 by philanthropist Ranadaprasad Saha. He established the institution for the girls education and named it after his grandmother Bharateswari Devi. In 2020, the school was given Independence Day Award, the highest civilian honor of Bangladesh, for its contribution to education.
Pratibha Mutsuddi is a Bangladeshi academic and language activist. She participated in the Bengali Language Movement in 1952. She served as the director and principal of Kumudini Welfare Trust, a welfare foundation founded by Ranadaprasad Saha in 1947. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2002 by the Government of Bangladesh for her contribution to education.
