The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture (Danish: Det Kongelige Danske Kunsakademi, Arkitektskolen) or Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole is an institution of higher education in Copenhagen, Denmark under the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Schools of Architecture, Design and Conservation (Det Kongelige Danske Kunsakademi, often abbreviated as KADK), which is the oldest architecture and art school in the world, for more than 250 years.

Structure

The School of Architecture contains four institutes, operating independently of each other. The school offers four bachelor's degree programs, each three years long, and ten master's degree programs, each two years long. The institutes also host researchers and doctoral students through three research centers.

The Head of Center of CITA, Professor Mette Ramsgaard Thomsen, received the Danish Council for Independent Research's EliteForsk Prize (Elite Research Prize) in 2016, becoming the first architectural researcher to receive the award. [2] [3]

The Danish Culture Canon consists of 108 works of cultural excellence in eight categories: architecture, visual arts, design and crafts, film, literature, music, performing arts, and children's culture. An initiative of Brian Mikkelsen in 2004, it was developed by a series of committees under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Culture in 2006–2007 as "a collection and presentation of the greatest, most important works of Denmark's cultural heritage." Each category contains 12 works although music contains 12 works of score music and 12 of popular music and the literature section's 12th item is an anthology of 24 works.

Ledreborg is a palatial mansion near Lejre, 12 km (7.5 mi) to the southwest of Roskilde on the Danish island of Zealand. Today's Baroque building was completed in 1746 by Minister of State Johan Ludvig Holstein (1694–1763) who commissioned J.C. Krieger to carry out the work.

Perkerdansk, Immigrant Danish or Gadedansk is a multi-ethnolect spoken in Denmark, a variety of Danish associated primarily with youth of Middle Eastern ethnic background. It is a contact variety that includes features of Danish as well as Arabic, Turkish, English and other immigrant languages. Particularly common in urban areas with high densities of immigrant populations, its features have also spread to general youth language in Denmark.
