Kyler Mackenzie Pettis (born October 16, 1992) is an American actor. In 2015, he was cast in the SORASed Theo Carver on the NBC soap opera, Days of Our Lives , a role he remained in until 2018. [1] In 2019, he won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series.

Early life

Pettis was born in Laguna Hills, California to ex National Football League cheerleader Peggy and former Major League Baseball player Gary Pettis. [2] [3] He has 3 siblings Paige, Shaye and Dante. [4] Dante plays professional football for the Chicago Bears. Kyler studied at JSerra Catholic High School in 2011, [5] and graduated from Saddleback College in 2013. [6]

Career

Pettis was signed with Otto Models. [7] In August 2015, Pettis took over the role from Terrell Ransom, Jr as the autistic son of Abe and Lexie Carver on Days of Our Lives . [8] [9] He debuted as Theo Carver on November 3, 2015. [10] [11] The casting call described the character as a "16-year-old, gorgeous, African American male" who is a High-functioning autistic (HFA). [12] In August 2016, Pettis booked a role in the movie "M.F.A." as a character named Conor. The film is directed by Natalia Leite and written by Leah McKendrick. [13]

Joey Johnson is a fictional character from Days of Our Lives, an American soap opera aired on the NBC network, presently portrayed by Tanner Stine. Introduced in 2008, Joey was created by head writers Hogan Sheffer and Meg Kelly as the youngest child of supercouple, Steve "Patch" Johnson and Kayla Brady. The role was played by siblings Brody and Jonas until the character was written out in 2009. Child actor Jadon Wells appeared in the role of Joey on a recurring basis from 2012 to 2014. Valerie Grant is a fictional character from Days of Our Lives, an American soap opera on the NBC network. The character was created by Pat Falken Smith and introduced as the black love interest for white character David Banning. The role was originated by Tina Andrews on October 27, 1975. Andrews was replaced by Rose Fonseca in the summer of 1977. Valerie and her family take David in when he is injured in a car accident and they soon fall in love. David and Valerie become engaged in the summer of 1976 but the romance is plagued by his infidelity, his ex-girlfriend Brooke Hamilton and her mother Helen's unwillingness to accept the relationship. When David's affair with Trish Clayton results in pregnancy, Valerie ends the relationship and takes a scholarship to medical school at Howard University in 1978. Actress Diane Sommerfield took over the role in 1981 when Valerie returns as a medical intern at the hospital. She becomes involved with Abe Carver which is plagued by Val's residual feelings for David and Abe's unwillingness to get married one day. The character is written out in 1982.

As Valerie's son with Julie's late son David Banning, Eli is the product of daytime's first interracial romance, and the first African-American member of the show's core family, the Hortons.

Cameron Johnson is an American actor. In 2020 he starred in the independent horror film Star Light. In 2020, he joined the cast of the NBC/Peacock soap opera, Days of Our Lives on a recurring basis as a recast of Theo Carver.
