Kym Ireland

Kym Ireland (born 25 October 1955) is a former Australian field hockey player.

Ireland represented Australia as part of the Australia women's national field hockey team at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. [1] Ireland was the team's goalkeeper. It was the first time The Hockeyroos represented Australia at an Olympic Games. [2]

Placing fourth overall, the team did not medal. However, one of the highlights of Ireland's performance at the 1984 Olympics was stopping eleven shots from Beth Anders' twelve attempts at goal in Australia's victory over America. [3]

Ireland returned to her hometown of Rockhampton, Queensland in 2013 after spending fifteen years in Brisbane, Queensland where she coached at schools and hockey clubs. [4]

Upon returning to Rockhampton, she began coaching local hockey team, Park Avenue Brothers. [5]

Not long after her return to Rockhampton, Ireland discovered that a Ukrainian artist living in the city had painted a life-sized portrait of her, along with twenty other Olympians. The artist had painted the portraits in 2004 but had decided to start selling the items. Ireland bought the painting of herself for $30. [6] The painting had been previously displayed with the others in Rockhampton's historic Customs House during the 2008 Summer Olympics. [7]

In 2014, Ireland said she was disappointed in the way that Kookaburra Jamie Dwyer, also from Rockhampton, was told he wouldn't be competing in the 2014 Commonwealth Games after he was told in an email that he was axed from the team. [8] Ireland said such a procedure was wrong and needed to be addressed. [9]

Kiel Brown is an Australian field hockey player. He earned a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and a gold medal at the 2011 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy.

Nathan Burgers is an Australian professional field hockey goalkeeper. He played for Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory teams in national competitions. He was also a member of the team that won the bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom.

Wilson played more than 150 games for the QLD Men’s Team from 2004-2015 winning 5 national titles throughout his tenure. He was a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team 2009-2015 and earned gold medals at the four Champions Trophy tournaments including 2010 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy which he was named Most Promising Player and lead the goal scoring for the tournament. He was a gold medalist at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, scoring two goals in the gold medal match to help secure the Gold.

Desmond Abbott is an Australian field hockey midfield/striker from the Northern Territory. He is a member of the Australia men's national field hockey team, having made his debut on 28 January 2007. He won gold medals at the Hockey Champions Trophy in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and a gold medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He won a bronze medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics and unsuccessfully tried to secure a spot on the team to represent Australia at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Dylan Wotherspoon is an Australian International Field Hockey player who plays for HC 's-Hertogenbosch. His normal position is forward. He won a gold medal in the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Richard Kyle John Joyce is a New Zealand field hockey player who plays as a goalkeeper for Belgian club Racing Club de Bruxelles and the New Zealand national team.
