L'Institut is a French hip hop collective, established in 2005 as an offshoot of Sexion d'Assaut, and associated with Wati B. L'institut was formed by various rap and hip hop / freestyle acts mostly coming from 9th arrondissement in Paris. L'Institut released the collective album Equipe de nuit in June 2013 that included in addition various collaborations with L.I.O. Pétrodollars, S.Pri Noir and Shin Sekaï. The group was dissolved in 2014, despite encouraging initial success with various band members concentrating on solo projects and collaborations.

Contents

Members of the collective notably Dr. Beriz, Insolent and Abou Debeing have also had many separate releases, collaborations and chart success in their own right.

Members

Abou Debeing and Docteur Beriz (sometimes Docteur Berize, Dr. Beriz) are two prominent founding members of L'Institut.

Although there were a number of changes, other main acts associated to L'Institut were Dadif, L'Insolent, Le H de Guerre, John Kafé and L.A.S [1]

Abou Debeing

Abou Debeing (sometimes Abou 2being) (real name Abou Kevin Kamara, born 19 April 1989) is a French rapper from the 15e arrondissement de Paris. He is born to immigrants from Ivory Coast origin. Being denotes France in Ivorian slang, so Debeing means French or of France. Being dubbed Debeing from young age, he adapted his name to release his solo album Debeinguerie in February 2017 and released his second album Street Love in 2019. He started freestyling at age 16, he was admitted to Wati B label in 2010. His first major success was through a collaboration with Black M in "Adios". He launched his sound "Taçatwa", a homage to the French capital Paris. He has collaborations with Sexion d'Assaut, Dadju, Black M, Naza, Aya Nakamura, KeBlack, Lartiste and many others.

Dr. Beriz

Dr Bériz or Docteur Bériz (born 1 April 1990) is the artistic name of Mourtada Alladji Coulibaly grew up in the 9e arrondissement in Paris. He was signed to the Wati B label. After leaving the label, he released "Acquitté" in preparation for a new album in 2019. [2]

Les yeux plus gros que le monde is a 2014 album by the French-Guinean artist Black M. It was released on 31 March 2014 containing 19 tracks almost all of which appeared on SNEP based on downloads. The album sold 400,000 copies and was certified 3× platinum.

Dadju Djuna Nsungula, better known by the mononym Dadju or at times Prince Dadj, is a French singer. He was signed to the label Wati B and in 2017 signed with Polydor Records of Universal Music Group. He was a member of the musical formation Shin Sekaï alongside rapper Abou Tall from 2012 to 2016. The duo was part of the label Wati B and released the album Indéfini. The duo announced that they were breaking up so they can each follow solo careers. Dadju released his solo album Gentleman 2.0 in 2017.

Abdelmalik Yahyaoui better known by the stage name Larry is a French rapper of Moroccan descent. Most famous for his song "Woin Woin" featuring rapper RK, he released his album Cité blanche in 2020. He is signed to Columbia Records in addition to running his own label Gothvm Records.

L'Écrasement de tête is the first street album by the Sexion d'Assaut collective. La Sexion d'Assaut was made up of the 3rd Prototype group and solo artists: Black M, Doomams, Balistik and L.I.O. Lefa said in a magazine in 2009 that the 3rd Prototype did not exist since the release of The Head Crush, therefore the Sexion D'Assaut is a band in its own right and no longer a collective. It was released on May 4, 2009 on Because Music. This disc will be the first to experience significant success, and really increase the group's notoriety among the general public. The title "T'es bête ou quoi ?" appears on the soundtrack of the film Ong-Bak 2. The album has sold over 45,000 copies. This street album allows them to start their first tour with many dates all over France in full venues, to their surprise.
