LIFE Healthcare Group, formerly Afrox Healthcare, is the second largest private hospital operator in South Africa, with 6,500 beds. It is owned by Brimstone Investment Corporation. [2] It is also the largest black-owned hospital operator in South Africa. [3]

Afrox was traded on the JSE Securities Exchange until it was sold to a black empowerment group in 2005. [4]

It bought Alliance Medical for about 10.4 billion rand in November 2016. [5]

The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Walgreens Boots Alliance, which was formed by the merger of Walgreens with its former parent Alliance Boots in December 2014. Alliance Boots had itself been formed in 2006 by the merger of Boots Group and Alliance UniChem on July 31, 2006. Alliance UniChem was rebranded Alliance Healthcare in 2009.

Hahnemann University Hospital Hospital in Pennsylvania, United States

Hahnemann University Hospital was a tertiary care center in Center City, Philadelphia, and the Center City Philadelphia teaching hospital of Drexel University College of Medicine. Established in 1885, it was for most of its history the main teaching hospital associated with its namesake medical school, Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital, founded in 1848 and named for Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homeopathy. Hahnemann University Hospital was fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Iasis Healthcare

IASIS Healthcare, located in Franklin, Tennessee, was the for-profit owner and operator of medium-sized acute care hospitals in high-growth urban and suburban markets. IASIS owns or leases 17 acute care hospital facilities and one behavioral health hospital facility with a total of 3,581 licensed beds and has total annual net revenue of approximately $3.2 billion. These hospital facilities are located in five regions: Salt Lake City, Utah; Phoenix, Arizona; five cities in Texas, including Houston and San Antonio; West Monroe, Louisiana; and Woodland Park, Colorado. IASIS also owns and operates Health Choice Arizona, a Medicaid and Medicare managed health plan in Phoenix that serves more than 197,000 members. IASIS Healthcare, its assets and employees have since merged with Steward Health Care System of Florida, the largest private operator of hospitals in the nation. The deal was estimated to be worth $2 billion.

Founded in 1983, the organization operates two community hospitals in Washington County, Oregon, and has been selected on several occasions as one of Oregon’s 100 Best Companies to Work For by Oregon Business magazine.

Baptist Health System is a hospital and medical facility system located in San Antonio in the U.S. state of Texas.

OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Hospital in Illinois, United States

OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, located in Peoria, Illinois, United States, is a teaching hospital for the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and part of the OSF Healthcare System. The Center, which is the largest hospital in the Peoria metropolitan area and in central Illinois, is designated by the state of Illinois as the Level I adult and pediatric regional trauma center for a 26-county region in mid-Illinois. OSF Saint Francis owns the Children's Hospital of Illinois, the OSF Saint Francis Heart Hospital, the Illinois Neurological Institute, and the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing, which are all located either in or near the Medical Center. The hospital is a clinical training hospital for many medical students, interns, residents, and fellows of the Peoria campus of the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

Afrox Healthcare Ltd v Strydom, an important case in South African contract law, was heard in the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) on May 13, 2002, with judgment handed down on May 31.

CMMB (Catholic Medical Mission Board) organization

Minnie Bodhanwala is an Indian business executive, entrepreneur and a dentist. She is the CEO of Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital and Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children in Mumbai. Bodhanwala is a board member and director of several Wadia Group organizations and companies. Her current appointment includes trustee of Sir Ness Wadia Foundation and advisor to the Chairman for CSR and Modern Education society.
