La Jornada is a Nicaraguan newspaper, with offices in the capital Managua. La Jornada was founded in 1986 as a news program on radio and later, in 1996, it evolved to a printed monthly magazine. In 2005, it took its present form as a daily digital newspaper. [1]

Antonio Helguera was a Mexican cartoonist. He studied engraving at La Esmeralda National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving. In 1983, he began his career as a political cartoonist in the newspaper El Día. He continued this work at La Jornada and Siempre!, in addition to El Chahuistle and El Chamuco, magazines of which he was also the co-editor. In 1996 and 2002 he received the Premio Nacional de Periodismo.

The COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico is part of the ongoing worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2. The virus was confirmed to have reached Mexico in February 2020. However, the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) reported two cases of COVID-19 in mid-January 2020 in the states of Nayarit and Tabasco, with one case per state.
