Port Harcourt is the capital and largest city of Rivers State, Nigeria. It is the fifth-largest city in Nigeria after Lagos, Kano, Ibadan and Benin City. It lies along the Bonny River and is located in the Niger Delta. As of 2016, the Port Harcourt urban area has an estimated population of 1,865,000 inhabitants, up from 1,382,592 as of 2006.

Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria is an organisation founded by Christy Essien-Igbokwe and Sunny Okosun in 1984 to guide, protect and promote the interests of musicians in the west African nation of Nigeria. Authorized by the government of Nigeria under the Trade Unions Act, the organisation also has the responsibility to regulate the practice of music profession in the country.
Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, on the north end of the city in the Omagwa neighbourhood. The stadium is named after Adokiye Amiesimaka, a former player with Nigeria's National football team who was among the squad that won the African Nations Cup in 1980, former Chairman of Sharks Football club and a former Attorney General of Rivers State. Presently, the stadium has a capacity of 38,000 people.

It is the state affiliate of the national Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN). Its state headquarters are in Port Harcourt.

Tony Okoroji is a Nigerian musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, author and intellectual property activist. He was elected President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) in 1989 and later became the Chairman of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON). Okoroji became popular in the Nigerian music scene in the 1970s when he released albums such as Juliana, Locomotion and Akataka with a number of hit songs including Oh no Baby, Big big sugar daddy, Happy music and Oriaku. He was the producer of artistes such as King Sunny Ade and Onyeka Onwenu. In 2016, Okoroji established his own record label, TOPs Record. In 2017, Okoroji was honoured with Professional Excellence in Entertainment Industry award by Business Hallmark magazine People of the Year.
