Laide Daramola (born December 25, 1981), also known as Lady Laide, is a Nigerian-American filmmaker, screenwriter, and TV Producer. [1] [2]

Early life and education

Laide was born in Baltimore, Maryland. [3] She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from Middlesex University and a master's degree in Business administration from the University of Maryland. [3] She obtained a certificate in Non-profit Management & Leadership from Harvard University. [3]

Career

Laide runs a career in the movie industry as a filmmaker, screenwriter, and TV Producer. [4] She is the founder of Lady Laide Group and Lady Laide Films. [5] She is the executive producer of the film Hotel Labamba , on Amazon Prime Video. [6] [7] [8] [9] She has other feature-length films still in the production stages. [10] [11] [12] She is also the filmmaker behind the anticipated film Aso Ebi Diaries. [13] [14]

Laide is also an international speaker. [15] She has spoken in churches, conferences, and panels on entrepreneurship, women & girl empowerment, leadership, and other topics. [16]

Philanthropy

Laide is a co-founder of Master’s Touch (MsT), a US-based humanitarian organisation that spreads love to hospitals and orphanages. [18] Among her other philanthropic initiatives include the Toys for Lagos project and the distribution of blankets to newborns and children in orphanages and hospitals. [19] [20]

Breaded Life is a 2021 Nigerian dramedy film written and directed by Biodun Stephen. Co-produced by Biodun Stephen, Tara Ajibulu and Kayode Sowade, it stars Timini Egbuson, Bimbo Ademoye, Tina Mba and Adedimeji Lateef. It premiered on April 10, 2021 at iMax Cinema Lagos, and was released nationwide on 16 April 2021. Breaded Life is a spin-off of the 2016 romantic comedy, Picture Perfect, and contains some of the original cast members.

<i>Ayinla</i> (film) 2021 Nigerian movie by Tunde Kelani

Ayinla is a musical eponymous film based on the life of Ayinla Yusuf popularly known as Ayinla Omowura, an Apala musician who was stabbed to death by his manager named Bayewu in a bar fight on 6 May 1980 at Abeokuta. The film premiered on 13 June 2021 in Lagos and was released to theatres on 18 June 2021. Directed by Tunde Kelani, the film was set in the 1970s and early 1980s and shot in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Lateef Adedimeji assumed the role of Ayinla, starring alongside Omowumi Dada, Bimbo Manuel, Ade Laoye, Kunle Afolayan, Bimbo Ademoye and Mr Macaroni. Ayinla is Kelani's first major film since his 2015 release of Dazzling Mirage. The budget for this feature film is officially given as ₦50 Million.

Aníkúlápó is a 2022 Nigerian epic fantasy film produced by Kunle Afolayan and distributed by Netflix. Released on 30 September 2022, it stars Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale,Hakeem Kae-Kazim and Taiwo Hassan. The film was shot in Oyo State and Afolayan has described the work as a "Game of Thrones recreated in Nigeria but with a better representation of our culture ".

Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper is a 2022 suspense thriller produced by Toyin Abraham and had its theatrical release on 23 December 2022. The film stars an ensemble cast including Toyin Abraham, Kunle Remi, Lolade Okusanya, Bimbo Akintola, Olumide Oworu, Lillian Afegbai among others. Big Love is a 2023 Nigerian romantic family drama written and directed by Biodun Stephen and marks the first collaboration between Biodun Stephen and Inkblot Productions. Released in cinemas nationwide on 28 June 2023 and starring Bimbo Ademoye, Timini Egbuson, Teniola Aladese, Jaiye Kuti, Shaffy Bello and others. The film was shot in Lagos State and depicts the modern-day Lagos life.

Dead Serious is a 2024 Showmax original Nigerian romantic comedy film, released on 23 February 2024. It was directed by Moses Inwang, and produced by David Rukeme.
