Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi (born 14 September 1955) is an Andhra politician and widow of N T Rama Rao. She was previously married to a harikatha artist Veeragandham Venkata Subba Rao. [1] [2] [3] Later, she was separated from him and started living together with N. T. Rama Rao who officially married her in 1993. [4]

Education

Lakshmi Parvathi completed her education in Telugu Literature from Telugu University of Telangana in the year 2000.[ citation needed ]

Political career

She has been active in politics after marrying NTR. Immediately after the demise of N. T. Rama Rao, she founded NTR Telugu Desam Party in 1995 by elections. Lakshmi Parvathi won as MLA from Pathapatnam (Assembly constituency) on behalf of NTRTDP with the support of Bharatiya Janata Party. [5] 42 constituencies candidates were launched by NTR (TDP) in 1996. Even after winning 3,249,267 votes in the elections the party did not win a single seat. She later joined Indian National Congress party. Currently, she is a member of YSR Congress Party. [6]

She contested from Sompeta and Eluru constituencies for the elections to the Andhra Pradesh assembly in 1999. She lost both the seats. She polled a mere 1,500 votes in Eluru. [7]

Later life

Parvathi has been the incumbent chair of Telugu Academy since her appointment on 6 November 2019. [8] She made her acting debut in the 2021 film Radhakrishna, which was about the traditional handicraft of Koyya dolls (Koyya Bommalu). [9] [10]

NTR Telugu Desam Party (Lakshmi Parvathi) (NTRTDP (LP)) is a regional political party in the India state of Andhra Pradesh. The party was founded by Lakshmi Parvathi, the widow of the film star and Telugu Desam Party politician N.T. Rama Rao. Parvathi formed the party after the internal coup in which NTR's son-in-law Chandrababu Naidu took control over TDP in 1995.

Anna Telugu Desam Party (ATDP) was a regional political party in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. ATDP was founded on January 27, 1999, by Nandamuri Harikrishna, the third son of the Telugu Desam Party founder N.T. Rama Rao. N. Harikrishna held a revolt against the TDP leader N. The 1996 Indian general election polls in United Andhra Pradesh were held for 42 seats in the state. The result was a victory for the Indian National Congress which won 22 out of 42 seats. This was the first election contested by the TDP since its leader Chandrababu Naidu ousted the party founder N. T. Rama Rao in a palace coup in August 1995 and the latter's untimely death a few months later.

The 1999 United Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election was conducted in 3 phases simultaneously with the 1999 Indian general election for the 11th Andhra Pradesh Assembly. The election was held on 4 September 1999, 11 September 1999 and 17 September 1999 for 91, 105 and 98 constitutencies respectively. Sri Balusu Prabhakara Buchi Krishna Satyanarayana Rao,, was a Telugu Indian industrialist, politician, and the zamindar of Kapileswarapuram. He was a Union Minister and active in the Circar districts of India. He served as Minister of State for Agriculture in the Vajpayee government for two years between 1999 and 2001. He was elected to the AP Legislative Council from the North Circar Districts Graduates Constituency in 1958 and 1980. His last rites were performed at his native village.

NTR: Kathanayakudu is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language biographical drama film based on the real life and acting career of N. T. Rama Rao (NTR). It was directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and produced by Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati, Vishnu Vardhan Induri under NBK Films, Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, Vibri Media banners. It is the first installation of a two-part film. The film stars an ensemble cast with Nandamuri Balakrishna, as his father N. T. Rama Rao, Vidya Balan in lead roles. Music is composed by M. M. Keeravani. The film has a sequel, NTR: Mahanayakudu, that showcases the political journey of Rama Rao.

Patlolla Indra Reddy (1954–2000) was a four-term member of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, former Home Minister of Andhra Pradesh state and founder of Jai Telangana Party.

NTR: Mahanayakudu is a 2019 Indian Telugu-language biographical film, based on the real life and political career of N. T. Rama Rao, produced by Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati, Vishnu Vardhan Induri under NBK Films, Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram, Vibri Media banners and directed by Krish Jagarlamudi. It is the second movie in a two-part series, with the first being NTR: Kathanayakudu. The film stars Nandamuri Balakrishna, Vidya Balan, Nandamuri Kalyan Ram, Rana Daggubati in the lead roles and its music is composed by M. M. Keeravani. The film received positive reviews and yet bombed badly at the box office.
