Lalmoni Express (Train no. 751/752) is an intercity train which runs between Dhaka (capital of Bangladesh) and Lalmonirhat District. Lalmoni Express has been considered one of the popular trains since its inception in 2004. The train connects several important cities, such as: Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, Bogra, Natore with Dhaka. It is one of the long-distance travelling trains of Bangladesh alonging with Drutajan Express, Panchagarh Express, and Ekota Express.
Lalmoni Express made its 1st inaugural run on 7 March 2004 with allocated train no. 751up/752down. [1] It was introduced as only inter-city train between Lalmonirhat and Dhaka. [2] It has frequent stops than other intercity trains in Bangladesh. However, Lalmonirhat Division of Bangladesh Railway gives top priority to this train for its passenger demand.
Lalmoni Express departs Lalmonirhat railway station at 10:40 (Bangladesh Standard Time) and arrives Dhaka station at 20:55. In return trip, it departs Dhaka at 22:10 and arrives Lalmonirhat at 08:20. Friday is the weekly holiday of this train. Due to its long distance of travelling, it faces schedule collapse sometimes. [3]
The train currently runs with 14 vacuum brake Coaches. In spite of huge passenger demand, the train didn't get new coaches since its inception. [4] Bangladesh Railway is thinking to upgrade its coaches in near future by introduction of air brake system.
Lalmoni Express usually is hauled by a Class 2900 locomotive of Bangladesh Railway. The train can be run with a vacuum brake locomotive.
Gaibandha District is a district in northern Bangladesh, located within the Rangpur Division. Covering an area of 2,179.27 square kilometers, it had a population of 2,562,232 as of the 2022 census. The district's administrative headquarters and largest urban center is Gaibandha town. Originally established as a subdivision in 1875 under the name Bhabanigonj, it was renamed Gaibandha in the same year. On February 15, 1984, Gaibandha was officially upgraded to district status. The Maitree Express (13109/13110) train, often pronounced Moitree Express, was the first express train service connecting Dhaka in Bangladesh to Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. The Bengali name Maitree Express means Friendship Express when translated to English, denoting the significance of the train service to the friendly foreign relations between India and Bangladesh. Previously train services between the two countries existed before the partition of India by the British and the Maitree Express re-established this connection between Dhaka and Kolkata in 2008 after being closed for 43 years. In 2017, a second train service, the Bandhan Express, was inaugurated connecting Kolkata with the Bangladeshi city of Khulna, recreating the previous Barisal Express train route.
Burimari is a border railway station in Bangladesh, situated in Lalmonirhat District, in Rangpur Division. It is a land border crossing point and a defunct railway transit point on the Bangladesh-India border. The corresponding point on the Indian side is Changrabandha in Cooch Behar district.

The Mitali Express (13131/13132) train is an international express rail service which connects the Indian city of Siliguri with the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka every week. Together with the Maitree Express train and the Bandhan Express train, the Mitali Express train is the third modern-day fully air conditioned passenger train link between the Indian state of West Bengal and Bangladesh. Both the prime ministers of the two neighbouring countries officially inaugurated the non-stop passenger train with ten compartments on the new 513 km route from Dhaka on 26 March 2021, the day Bangladesh celebrated the golden jubilee of its independence. The prime minister of India was in Dhaka to mark the auspicious occasion of fifty years of independence of Bangladesh. After 56 years of stoppage, this train route recreates the previous Siliguri route between India and Bangladesh. A valid visa and passport is required beforehand to purchase a ticket for the Mitali Express train. Tickets are available at Dhaka Kamalapur railway station in Dhaka, Bangladesh and at New Jalpaiguri railway station in Siliguri, India.
