Landmark Quiz is an annual quiz contest instituted in 1992 by the Landmark Bookstores owned by Tata Group through its Trent (Westside) brand. Since 2008, the event has been held in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune on various dates. The quiz is mostly conducted on national holidays, and is one of the oldest open quizzes in India.

Format

Landmark Quiz starts with a large turnout for the quiz preliminary round where participants fill in their answers for about 40 questions that come up on a screen. No negative marking is applied. The quiz is normally set by a team of senior quiz-masters such as Dr. Navin Jayakumar, Gautam Padmanabhan, and Navin's mother, Saranya Jayakumar. It has been hosted by Dr. Navin Jayakumar since its inception with the exception of 2006 when Derek O'Brien was the quizmaster in the absence of the main quizmasters.

1991

The inaugural edition was held at Chennai on August 15.

2008

Three new venues (Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune) were added during this edition. A National Champion event was held for the first time. Kissing Gouramis from Bangalore, represented by Swaminathan, Rajen Prabhu and Gopal Kidao were the national winners.

2009

The national champion was the Chennai-based team QED (V.V. Ramanan, Samanth Subramanian, G. Swaminathan), who had won the regional at Pune. QED had been the runner-up in 2008, the first time the national champion concept was introduced.

2010

The 19th edition of the quiz was held with regional finals held each at Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai, respectively. This was followed by the national finals with two winners each from the regions to fight it out to determine who would become national champion. This was held on August 15, 2010. The national finals was won by a team from Mumbai, "Haseena Ka Paseena (Sunanda's Sweat Equity)", with Vikram Joshi, Pradeep Ramarathnam and Mukund Sridhar, followed by another Mumbai team with Dharmendra Dileepkumar, Debashree and Harish Kumar. Bangalore's team Metaquizzicks came third.

2011

The 20th edition of the landmark quiz was once again held in each of the four cities, Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai. The winner and runner-up from each city went on to the national finals which was held on 15 August 2011 after the Chennai regional finals. The Chennai winners, "Maaman, Machaan, Mapillai", consisting of Ram Kumar, Jayakanthan and Sreeram, were declared the national winners.

2012

The 20th edition of the Landmark Quiz was held in six cities, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai. The winner from each city went on to the national finals with Bangalore and Chennai sending in two teams with their runners-up also being sent to the national finals. Hyderabad winners, "Naa Gun..", consisting of Ravi Mundoli, Anil Kumar and Jayakanthan, were the national winners.

The event is now held in Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, New Delhi, Thrissur, Guwahati, Tezpur, Panjim, Bhubaneshwar, Mysore and Coimbatore. It is now a collaborative effort between KQA and other quizzing organisations such as Quiz Foundation of India, Chennai, K-Circle, Hyderabad, The Hyderabad Quiz Club, Bombay Quiz Club, The Boat Club Quiz Club, Pune, Grey Cells Kerala, Bhubaneshwar Quiz Club, Kutub Quizzers, New Delhi, Trivia Bytes Creations and Oo Aa Ka Kha, Guwahati, Sunday Evening Quiz Club, Goa, and Coimbatore Quiz Circle, Coimbatore and has thus evolved into being the national quizzing championships.

TCS InQuizitive is an information technology quiz-based competition for students in class 8-12 across India. It is held annually in India and the UAE by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The UAE edition of the quiz was discontinued after 2014. The first competition was in 1999. More than 15,000 students entered the competition. The competition is conducted by "Pickbrain", the chief executive officer of Greycaps India Private Limited. Greycaps is an on-stage quiz and knowledge service provider based in Bangalore, India.

The opening ceremony and the first match was held at Sector 42 Stadium, Chandigarh, where Bhopal Badshahs beat Chandigarh Comets 4–3.

The 2016 Indian Premier League Final was a day/night Twenty20 cricket match on 29 May 2016 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore, which was played between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore to determine the winner of the 2016 season of the Indian Premier League, an annual Twenty20 cricket tournament in India. In case play was not completed on 29 May, the Final would have resumed on 30 May, the allotted reserve day.

The United Basketball Alliance (UBA) was the first men’s professional basketball league in India, comprising eight teams. The UBA was headquartered in Pune and had a city team, Pune Peshwas. The first UBA match was played on 17 July 2015 at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad between Bengaluru Beast and Pune Peshwas. The match was won by Pune Peshwas as they pulled out an 88-81 win. This marked the first time a professional basketball league tipped off in India.

The 2022 Indian Premier League, also known as IPL 15 or for sponsorship reasons, Tata IPL 2022, was the fifteenth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 cricket league established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. The tournament was played from 26 March 2022 to 29 May 2022. The group stage of the tournament was played entirely in the state of Maharashtra, with Mumbai and Pune hosting the matches. The full schedule of the tournament was announced on 6 March 2022.
