Lars Hannibal (born 15 July 1951 in Aarhus) is a Danish classical guitarist and lutenist who frequently performs with his ex-wife Michala Petri playing the recorder.

Biography

Hannibal grew up in Aarhus where he was first inspired by the music of Bob Dylan, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones. He extended his interest to the classical guitar after listening to Andrés Segovia playing Bach. [1]

He studied the guitar at the Aarhus conservatory and the lute in The Hague with Toyohiko Satoh, completing his studies in 1980. [2] Since 1972, he has taught music at the Peter Sabroe National Institute for Social Educators in Aarhus and occasionally plays in rock bands. [1]

In 1992, he married Michala Petri with whom he has given over 1,500 concerts and made numerous recordings. They divorced in 2010 although they still perform together. [3] Together they founded the record company OUR Recordings. Hannibal has also performed with a number of other artists including the violinist Kim Sjøgren, the trumpeter Michael Brydenfelt, and later the Chinese violinist Tina Chen Yi. He has taken a special interest in China where he organized a Gala Concert in the Danish Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. His project Dialogue—East meets West encourages artistic discussion between Denmark and China. [1]

Michael Learns to Rock is a Danish soft rock and pop rock band formed in 1988. The band currently consists of Jascha Richter, Mikkel Lentz and Kåre Wanscher. Søren Madsen was an original member of the group since its formation but left in 2000. The band has sold over 11 million records over the course of their career, with the majority sold in Scandinavia and Asia. Despite being Danish, the band performs songs in English. The band has attributed its success in Asia to their drug-free, clean-living image and to singing in English as a second language.

Michael Laucke Canadian classical and flamenco guitarist (1947–2021)

Michael Laucke was a Canadian classical, new flamenco and flamenco guitarist and composer. Starting at the age of thirteen, Laucke gave professional snooker demonstrations and his winnings allowed him to take trips from Montreal to New York City to study the classical guitar with Rolando Valdés-Blain. With a career spanning over 30 years, Laucke began performing in 1965, recording the first of 16 albums in 1969, and toured in 25 countries. In 1971, he performed his first of many concerts at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. His first concert in New York, where he also first met Senator Claiborne Pell, took place in 1972.
