Lata (born February 19, 1975 in Lisbon) is a singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer. [1] He is a well-known Red Dirt artist in Oklahoma and a reference of Americana music in Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium and the north of France. [2]
He grew up in Luxembourg, where his father worked for the European Court of Justice. At the age of 17 he went to London, played music in bars, and was a member of various bands. From 1993 to 1999 he studied economics, at UCL University of London and politics at London Guildhall University at bachelor and master level London Metropolitan University. [3] In 2001, he founded the company Desert Fish Productions and became the Portugal musical events manager for the animal rights organization LPDA, . [4] From 2002 to 2006, he had a band called Lata Dog, releasing an album in 2004. In 2003 he wrote the song "Três desafios" for the soundtrack of the film "Tudo isto é Fado", directed by Luís Galvão Teles. [5]
In 2007, he moved to Oklahoma at the invitation of Rocky Frisco, who had played together with JJ Cale, one of Gouveia's musical heroes. There he came into contact with many folk musicians and created close friendships with Tom Skinner, Dustin Pittsley and Steve Pryor. In 2009 Lata produced the documentary "Red Dirt: Songs from the Dust", [6] which was awarded best music documentary at the Bare Bones International Film Festival. His 2008 album Road US-75 was released by Captiva Records, in San Marcos, Texas. His 2011 cover version of Monica Taylor's song "Young Mother" was featured on the NME website. [7]
Since 2010 he is living in Luxembourg again and has become one brightest stars in the national scene, headlining several festivals and opening for Ayọ, Charlie Winston, Kiefer Sutherland, Alan Parsons, BAP, Sting and others. He composed the music for the documentary "Terra mia terra nostra" (2012), directed by Donato Rotunno. [8] In 2013 he won the band contest Purple Idol and played at the Rock um Knuedler festival as support for BAP. In 2014 Lata released the album “Radio Nights”, followed by “Healed & Gone” in 2019. His recent band consists of Daniela Kruger (bass), Paul Porcelli (guitar) and Jeff Herr(drums).

Placebo are a British alternative rock band, formed in London in 1994 by vocalist–guitarist Brian Molko and bassist–guitarist Stefan Olsdal. Drummer Robert Schultzberg joined in late 1994, but left in 1996 shortly after the release of the band's eponymous debut album due to conflicts with Molko, and was replaced the same year by Steve Hewitt. Molko was born in Belgium and Olsdal and Schultzberg in Sweden; remaining members Molko and Olsdal both grew up in Luxembourg before separately relocating to London and are both British citizens.
The Libertines are an English rock band, formed in London in 1997 by frontmen Carl Barât (vocals/guitar) and Pete Doherty (vocals/guitar). The band, centred on the songwriting partnership of Barât and Doherty, has also included John Hassall (bass), and Gary Powell (drums) for most of its recording career. The band was part of the garage rock revival and spearheaded the movement in the UK.
Elbow are an English rock band formed in Bury, Greater Manchester, in 1997. The band consists of Guy Garvey, Craig Potter, Mark Potter and Pete Turner. They have played together since 1990, adopting the name Elbow in 1997. Drummer Alex Reeves replaced Richard Jupp in 2016.
Bloc Party are an English rock band, composed of Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Justin Harris and Louise Bartle. Former members Matt Tong and Gordon Moakes left the band in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Their brand of music, whilst rooted in rock, retains elements of other genres such as electronica and house music. The band was formed at the 1999 Reading Festival by Okereke and Lissack. They went through a variety of names before settling on Bloc Party in 2003. Moakes joined the band after answering an advert in NME magazine, while Tong was picked via an audition. Bloc Party got their break by giving BBC Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq and Franz Ferdinand's lead singer, Alex Kapranos, a copy of their demo "She's Hearing Voices".
Biffy Clyro are a Scottish rock band that formed in Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire, composed of Simon Neil, James Johnston, and Ben Johnston. Currently signed to 14th Floor Records, they have released nine studio albums, six of which reached the top five in the UK Albums Chart, with their sixth studio album, Opposites claiming their first UK No. 1 album. Three consecutive studio albums peaked at number one in the UK official albums chart. After their first three albums, the band expanded their following significantly in 2007 with the release of their fourth album, Puzzle, creating more mainstream songs with simpler rhythms and distancing themselves from the more unusual dissonant style present in their previous three albums. Puzzle peaked at No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart on 16 June 2007. The album went platinum in the UK in 2012, having sold over 300,000 copies. In the early 2010’s, they built up a reputation of being one of the biggest rock bands in the UK.
Kaiser Chiefs are an English indie rock band from Leeds who originally formed in 1997 as Runston Parva, before reforming as Parva in 2000, and releasing one studio album, 22, in 2003, before renaming and establishing themselves in their current name that same year. Since their formation, the band has consisted of lead vocalist Ricky Wilson, guitarist Andrew "Whitey" White, bassist Simon Rix, keyboardist Nick "Peanut" Baines and since 2013 drummer Vijay Mistry, who replaced founding drummer Nick Hodgson following his departure from the band in late 2012.

The Maccabees were an English indie rock band, formed in 2004 in London. They released four albums: Colour It In in 2007, followed by Wall of Arms in 2009, Given to the Wild which was released on 9 January 2012 and their last album Marks to Prove It released on 31 July 2015. The band announced that they decided to disband in August 2016, with farewell gigs in 2017.

Courteeners are an English band formed in Middleton in 2006 by Liam Fray, Michael Campbell, Daniel "Conan" Moores and Mark Cuppello (bass); the latter was replaced by the band's producer Joe Cross in 2015. They previously toured with pianist Adam Payne, who has been featured on every album, but in 2019 was replaced with Elina Lin. In December 2012, the band dropped "The" from their name, continuing simply as "Courteeners".
