Lauren Drummond (born 23 December 1987) is an English actress. [1] She is best known for her roles as Mika Grainger in Waterloo Road , Chantelle Lane in Holby City , and Faye Clark in The Royal .

Early life and education

Lauren Drummond was born and brought up in Cheadle Hulme in Stockport. [2]

She attended Bramhall High School before completing a performing arts course at Mid Cheshire College. [3] Drummond also studied at Yale University’s Summer Conservatory for Actors and a Laine Theatre Arts Workshop in Manchester. [4]

Drummond is distantly related to former Holby City co-star Tina Hobley. [5]

Career

Drummond began her acting career with small roles in Coronation Street , Grange Hill and Heartbeat , however from 2006 until 2008, Drummond played Mika Grainger in the BBC school-based drama series Waterloo Road . [6] [7] [8] She would later return to the series in 2024, appearing in the season finale of the shows thirteenth series. [9] [10] Drummond would go on to tour the UK in a stage production of Billy Liar . [11]

From 2009 until 2011, Drummond played Faye Clark in The Royal , before moving on to join the cast of Holby City as new nurse Chantelle Lane. She appeared in over 100 episodes of Holby City before leaving the show in 2013. [12] She was part of the shows 2013 Children In Need special featuring Catherine Tate. [13] Drummond returned to the role of Lane for a single episode in June 2016. She had previously appeared as a one-off character, Hannah Sharpe, on the show in 2008. [14] [15]

In 2014, she toured the UK in a production of J.B. Priestley’s classic play Dangerous Corner . [16]

In 2019, Drummond appeared as Jane Bestwick in ITV soap opera Coronation Street . [15] She would go on to appear in I Hate Suzie alongside Billie Piper, before joining the cast of DI Ray in 2024. [17] [18]

The twelfth series of the British medical drama television series Holby City commenced airing in the United Kingdom on BBC One on 20 October 2009. The series deals with the repercussions of the death of ward sister Faye Byrne's son Archie, including the resignation of consultant Connie Beauchamp and the return of former registrar Thandie Abebe-Griffin. Arthur Digby is a fictional character from the BBC medical drama Holby City, played by actor Rob Ostlere. He first appeared in the series fifteen episode "Blood Ties", broadcast on 2 January 2013. Arthur arrives at Holby City hospital to start his first year of the Foundation Programme. To prepare for the role Ostlere visited a hospital and shadowed a registrar and foundation doctors on their rounds. He has been described by Holby City's publicity department as "naïve and socially awkward" plus holding an "encyclopaedic knowledge" on unusual subjects. Ostlere's first days on-set influenced various aspects of Arthur's characterisation such as his "preppy attire", fidgeting with his glasses and his clumsy nature. Arthur is a talented doctor and his skills are awarded the medical prize titled, Junior Doctor of the Year. Arthur's storylines have focused on his career on the hospital's Keller and AAU wards, alongside the various characters that staff them. In his first year on-screen he works closely with mentor Antoine Malick and staff nurse Chantelle Lane. The latter he develops romantic feelings for which are not reciprocated. "I'll Walk You Home" is the thirty-fifth episode of the eighteenth series of the British medical drama television series Holby City. The episode was written by Andy Bayliss and directed by Paulette Randall, and premiered on BBC One on 7 June 2016. The episode features the death of established character Arthur Digby, a CT2 doctor who had worked on the show's fictitious Keller and AAU wards. Writers worked alongside a consultant oncologist for medical advice to provide an accurate depiction of terminal cancer. The episode also features the return of two former regular characters and includes an appearance of a character from Holby City's sister-show Casualty.
