Lauren Weinstein (born 1975) is an American comic book artist and illustrator. Her first comics appeared as syndicated strips in the Seattle Stranger and Gurl.com, a website aimed at teenagers.
Weinstein was one of a number of artists who graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and moved to New York City in the late 1990s, among them Patrick Smith of Vector Park and Dan Nadel of The Ganzfeld.
Her first solo comic, the Xeric award-winning [1] Inside Vineyland, was published in 2003. Her collection Girl Stories, which originated as a series of short webcomics, was published by Henry Holt in 2006. [2] Her work has appeared in The Best American Comics: An Anthology of Graphic Fiction, Kramers Ergot , and The Graphic Canon. In 2015 her five-part webcomic, Carriers, about dealing with the discovery that she and her husband are carriers of the gene that causes cystic fibrosis, won a Gold Medal from The Society of Illustrators. Weinstein is also the lead singer of the metaphysical rock band/arts collective Flaming Fire, and has released three albums: Get Old and Die with Flaming Fire in 2001, Songs from the Shining Temple in 2003, and When the High Bell Rings in 2007.
Harvey Lawrence Pekar was an American underground comic book writer, music critic, and media personality, best known for his autobiographical American Splendor comic series. In 2003, the series inspired a well-received film adaptation of the same name.

It is currently most popular in Canadian, American and French comics; all artists listed below are from the U.S. unless otherwise specified.
Girlamatic was a webcomic subscription service launched by Joey Manley and Lea Hernandez in March 2003. It was the third online magazine Manley established as part of his Modern Tales family of websites. Girlamatic was created as a place where both female artists and readers could feel comfortable and featured a diverse mix of genres. When the site launched, the most recent webcomic pages and strips were free, and the website's archives were available by subscription. The editorial role was held by Hernandez from 2003 until 2006, when it was taken over by Arcana Jayne-creator Lisa Jonté, one of the site's original artists. In 2009, Girlamatic was relaunched as a free digital magazine, this time edited by Spades-creator Diana McQueen. The archives of the webcomics that ran on Girlamatic remained freely available until the website was discontinued in 2013.

Leela Corman is an American cartoonist and illustrator. Corman created the 2012 graphic novel Unterzakhn, which follows the lives of Jewish twin sisters growing up in the tenements of New York City's Lower East Side at the turn of the last century. Unterzakhn was published by Schocken Books and nominated for the Los Angeles Times Book Award, the Eisner Award, and Le Prix Artemisia. Portions of Unterzakhn were serialized in HEEB magazine and Lilith magazine.
Tillie Walden is an American cartoonist who has published five graphic novels and a webcomic. Walden won the 2018 Eisner Award for Best Reality-Based Work for her graphic novel Spinning, making her one of the youngest Eisner Award winners ever. She was named Vermont's Cartoonist Laureate for the years 2023 - 2026.
