Leaana Ronnie Posini is a Samoan politician and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Samoa. He is a member of the Human Rights Protection Party.
He was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Samoa in the 2016 Samoan general election. [1] An electoral petition against him by the unsuccessful candidate Palusalue Faʻapo II was withdrawn before going to trial. [2] In July 2019 he was one of 18 MPs who voted in support of Lands &Titles Court President Fepuleai Atila Ropati,who had been convicted for assault,retaining his position. [3]
He was re-elected at the 2021 Samoan general election. [4] On 12 July 2021 he agreed to resign from parliament as part of the settlement of an election petition. [5] He subsequently changed his mind,and the petition against him was later withdrawn. [6]
In November 2022 he was banished from his village of Saanapu by the village council. [7]

A constitutional crisis began in Samoa on 22 May 2021 when O le Ao o le Malo Tuimalealiʻifano Vaʻaletoʻa Sualauvi II issued a proclamation purporting to prevent the Legislative Assembly from meeting in the wake of the general election in April 2021. Court rulings had upheld the election results,giving a parliamentary majority to the Faʻatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party,led by FiamēNaomi Mataʻafa. On 24 May 2021,a makeshift ceremony was held outside of Parliament to swear in Mata'afa as prime minister. On 23 July the Court of Appeal declared that the ceremony was binding and that FAST had been the government since that date.
