Lee Scott is an English rapper, author, producer, and co-founder of record label Blah Records. [2] [3]

He has been making hip hop since 2003, and started Blah in 2006. [4] As well as Blah artists, Scott has worked with veteran rapper Jehst on his label YNR and has released music on High Focus Records. [5] [6]

Early life

Born in 1985 to a single mother, Scott was raised in the Castlefields estate of Runcorn, Cheshire. [7] He moved with his mother to Rochdale and Liverpool before returning to Runcorn to work at the Teva Pharmaceuticals factory. [7]

Style and works

Scott has been a member of many rap groups and crews since 2003. These include Cult Mountain, [8] Children (later Cult) of the Damned, [4] Mcabre Brothers [2] and more. He has been described as 'an integral part of Hip-Hop in Britain' [9] and in early 2020 Red Bull selected Blah Records as one of its 'seven UK-based independent labels worth shouting about'. [10] Media figures have noted Scott's ability to promote his and his label's music through limited edition releases and merchandise. [1] [11]

Musically, reviewers have praised his albums for their 'thick layers of peculiarity' [12] with 'contradictory and self depreciating satire'. [13] Anthony Fantano, of The Needle Drop, called his 2015 High Focus release Butter Fly 'thought provoking, playful, absurd and cynical while pulling jabs at pop culture' and a 'thinking man's hip hop record'. [5]

In 2020, Scott once again collaborated with Jehst, this time under the name GROUP. Their first EP, entitled 1, featured London's Lord Apex. One reviewer called the project "refreshing, profound and emotionally astute". [14]

Scott's debut novel, Swan Songs, was published on 14 December 2021 through Repeater Books. [3] [15]

Jordan Michael Houston III, known professionally as Juicy J, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, he is a founding member of the Southern hip hop group Three 6 Mafia, established in 1991. He released ten studio albums with the group, which began as an underground act until attaining mainstream recognition and signing with Loud Records, an imprint of Columbia Records in 2000. Raymond Ian Burns, known by the stage name Captain Sensible, is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter. He co-founded the punk rock band the Damned in 1976, originally playing bass before switching to guitar. He is known for his distinctive appearance including a red beret and sunglasses, typically with white frames. Sensible embarked on a solo career during the 1980s, achieving a UK number one hit with his version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Happy Talk" (1982) and further hits with "Wot" (1982) and "Glad It's All Over" (1984). In 2006, Sensible founded the Blah! Party. He continues to perform in the Damned.

James Kevin Hocking otherwise known as Jimi the Human is an Australian musician. He has been a member of hard rock groups, The Angels (1988) and The Screaming Jets. As a solo artist he has fronted various backing bands playing hard rock, electric and acoustic blues by providing lead guitar, vocals, mandolin and keyboards. In 2005 he won the Solo/Duo category at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

Astroworld is the third studio album by American rapper Travis Scott. It was released on August 3, 2018, through Cactus Jack Records and Grand Hustle Records, and distributed by Epic Records. The album features guest vocals from Frank Ocean, Drake, Swae Lee, Kid Cudi, James Blake, Philip Bailey, Juice Wrld, Sheck Wes, the Weeknd, 21 Savage, Gunna, Nav, Don Toliver, Quavo, and Takeoff, among others. Production was handled by multiple producers, including Scott himself, Mike Dean, Allen Ritter, Hit-Boy, WondaGurl, Tay Keith, Tame Impala, Frank Dukes, Sonny Digital, Murda Beatz, and Thundercat, among others. Shea Butter Baby is the debut studio album by American singer Ari Lennox. It was released on May 7, 2019, by Dreamville and Interscope Records. The album was executive produced by Dreamville producer Elite. In addition, the majority of the album was produced by Dreamville's in-house producers: J. Cole, Elite, Omen, Ron Gilmore, and Christo, among others.

Blah Records is a British hip hop and alternative hip hop record label owned and managed by Lee Scott and Salar Saajedi. It was founded by Lee Scott and producer Molotov in 2006, with label rapper Milkavelli also originally listed as a director. They originally started the label to release the music of their rap posse Children of the Damned. That group later evolved into Cult of the Damned, featuring many label artists.

Jam Baxter is an English rapper from London, UK. Since 2009, he has released 7 solo albums and several EPs on UK-based labels High Focus Records and, since 2019, Blah Records. He is noted for his surreal and cryptic lyrics, described variously as being "outlandish" and "vivid and disturbing".

Black Josh is a rapper from Manchester, England. Since his first releases in 2013, Josh has worked with various producers and rappers across the UK including other Blah Records artists. He has also been part of the rap groups Cult of the Damned, Levelz and The Mouse Outfit. Writers have variously called him a "Manchester cult hero" and a "lyrical maverick".

Cult of the Damned is an English rap group, with a shifting line up of a dozen-plus rappers and producers including Lee Scott, Salar and Black Josh. Formerly known as Children of the Damned they have been releasing music since 2007's album Tourretes Camp, all through various incarnations of Blah Records.

Sonnyjim is a rapper and hip-hop producer from Birmingham, England.
