A leg is a single game in the sport of darts. Most darts matches are played over a number of legs. Alternatively, a match may be divided into sets, with each set being contested often on a first to 3 legs or first to 5 legs basis.
At the start of each leg, each player or team has a score of 501. A leg is over when either side reaches zero by hitting a double or the bull's eye. If playing several sets, the player throwing first is alternated.

He is also a three-time PDC World Champion, having won the title in 2014, 2017 and 2019. van Gerwen has won 47 premier singles events in all, having won the World Matchplay, UK Open and Grand Slam each three times, he is a six-time World Grand Prix champion, a seven-time Premier League Darts and Players Championship Finals winner, a five-time winner of both the PDC Masters and World Series Finals, a four-time European Champion and the winner of the 2019 Champions League of Darts. He is also a three-time PDC World Cup of Darts champion, partnering Raymond van Barneveld for the Netherlands.
The 2001 BDO World Darts Championship was a professional darts tournament held from 6 to 14 January 2001 at the Lakeside Country Club in Frimley Green, Surrey. It was the 24th staging of the competition since the 1978 event and the 16th time it took place at the Lakeside Country Club. The tournament was the first of 44 British Darts Organisation (BDO) tournaments in 2001. The host broadcaster was the BBC and the competition was sponsored by the cigarette company Embassy.

The PDC World Cup of Darts is a team darts tournament organised by the Professional Darts Corporation, and was one of the three new tournaments introduced into the PDC calendar in 2010. It is broadcast live by Sky Sports. Due to the rescheduling of the Players Championship Finals in the PDC calendar, the second edition was played in Hamburg, Germany, in February 2012.
