Lena Neudauer (born 1984) is a German violinist.

Life

Born in Munich, Neudauer started playing the violin at the age of 3. She first took lessons with Helge Thelen and later with Sonja Korkeala. [1] At the age of 11, she attended the Mozarteum University Salzburg and studied with Thomas Zehetmair and finally with Christoph Poppen. Already at the age of 15, Neudauer won the 4th International Violin Competition Leopold Mozart in Augsburg in 1999 (Mozart Prize – 1st Prize). In 2013 she was a member of the jury at the 8th edition of the same competition. [2] [3] [4]

In 2010, she was appointed professor for violin at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in Saarbrücken. Since the winter semester 2016, she has held a professorship for violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. [5] [6]

She owes much of the inspiration for her artistic work to her collaboration with Felix Andrievsky  [ de ], Ana Chumachenco, Midori Gotō, Nobuko Imai and Seiji Ozawa. As a soloist she played with orchestras like the Münchener Kammerorchester, the Orchestre National de Belgique, the Polnischen Kammerphilharmonie, the Nürnberger Symphoniker, the Brandenburger Symphoniker and the Münchner Symphoniker and under the direction of conductors such as Dennis Russell Davies, Mariss Jansons, Christoph Poppen and Wojciech Rajski. The International Violin Competition Leopold Mozart in Augsburg is an international violin competition, held every three years in commemoration of Leopold Mozart (1719–1787), the father of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It is the goal of the competition to encourage young violinists and to promote Augsburg's reputation as a German Mozart city. The competition is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC) in Geneva. It is run by the Leopold Mozart Board of Trustees in cooperation with the city of Augsburg and the Leopold Mozart Center of the University of Augsburg. Further partners are the Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Art, the District of Swabia, Bavarian Radio and the University of Augsburg.

The Prize of the Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation is an annual award for promotion of new music. It was founded in 1988 by Karlheinz and Christiane Kaske in memory of their sons Christoph and Stephan. The Christoph and Stephan Kaske Foundation has its legal seat in Munich. The aim is to promote young, promising interpreters and composers in the field of new music. The award is endowed with € 10,000. The selection of the winner is made by a board of trustees. The prize is awarded in a ceremony at the Künstlerhaus am Lenbachplatz.
