Sonja Korkeala (born 1969 in Oulu) is a Finnish violinist and professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. [1]
She studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Ari Angervo and Tuomas Haapanen and at the Liszt Academy in Budapest with Maria Vermes. Korkeala continued her studies with Ana Chumachenco at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich where she finished her studies with the masterclass degree.
In 1994, she became assistant teacher of Ana Chumchenco at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, then since 2000 she has taught her own class. Since 2011, she is professor at the same institute. She made a name for herself as teacher of highly gifted young violinists.
Since 1993, Korkeala is the Primaria of the Rodin Quartet. This Quartet recorded many CDs, among others the complete works for string quartet by Franz Lachner, Vinzenz Lachner and Ignaz Lachner as first recording.
In cooperation with her twin sister Katinka, who founded the festival in 1999, Sonja Korkeala is artistic director of the Kimito Island Music Festival. The weeklong festival is held annually on Kimito Island in mid-July. Among other performances, the festival annually features a premiere of a piece commissioned for the event by Finnish composers, including Aulis Sallinen, Kalevi Aho, Jouni Kaipainen and Einojuhani Rautavaara.

Mariana Sîrbu, also credited as Sârbu, was a Romanian classical violinist and academic teacher, who made an international career performing and recording. She was focused on chamber music, founding the Academica String Quartet in 1968, joining the Trio di Milano in 1985, and founding the Quartetto Stradivari in 1994. She was concertmaster of I Musici from 1993 to 2003. She became professor of violin at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig in Leipzig in 2002, gave international master classes and was juror for competitions of violin and chamber music.
Luise Adolpha Le Beau was a German composer of classical music. She studied with noted musicians Clara Schumann and Franz Lachner, but her primary instructor was Josef Gabriel Rheinberger. Like many other 19th century female composers, Le Beau began her career in music as a pianist, and later earned her living teaching, critiquing, and performing music.

The Kimito Island Music Festival is a chamber music festival that is held annually on Kimito Island in mid-July. The event features artists from Finland and abroad with a program ranging from classical to contemporary. The festival was founded in 1999 by pianist Martti Rautio and violinist Katinka Korkeala. Katinka works as an artistic director. The position is shared by her twin sister, violinist Sonja Korkeala, since 2008. The executive director has been Jukka Mäkelä since 2009.

Nastasja Vojinović is a Montenegrin classical violinist, soloist, and chamber musician. She is known for her work with the Philadelphia String Quartet and performances with numerous tango ensembles and chamber groups. She has studied with Gordana Matijević-Nedeljković, Eduard Schmieder, and Wen Qian. She appeared at the KotorArt Festival in her solo recital in 2019. In 2020, she performed with musicians from Santa Barbara for the Santa Barbara-Kotor Sister Cities program, between Kotor and Santa Barbara. Recently, one of the projects she has been a part of, Broadcast from Home, has been featured by the BBC Radio, Washington Post, and Guggenheim Museum in New York. Nastasja is currently performing with the Philadelphia String Quartet as their Lead Violinist, who she has been with since 2017.

A professor of violin at the University of Michigan, she is also on the faculty at the Colburn School, Center Stage Strings in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and the Innsbrook Institute. She is co-founder and co-artistic director of the Sounding Point Academy along with her former teacher Robert Lipsett.
