By winning his ninth gold medal in the Nordic World Ski Championships in 4 × 10 km relay in Val di Fiemme 2013 he leveled the achievement of Bjørn Dæhlie who had been the most successful World Champion male skier up to that point. He is considered by many as the greatest cross country skier of all time.
Izzat is a 2005 Norwegian crime and action drama, also described as Nordic Noir. The film is written by Ulrik Imtiaz Rolfsen and Leon Bashir and directed by Ulrik Imtaiz Rolfsen. The film is set in Oslo during the late 1980s and early 1990s during the main characters childhood, and the mid 2000s when the characters have grown up to be adults, with the film being narrated in periodical flashbacks. The name of the film comes from the word "Izzat", found in the languages of Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu. The word means honour and is used to describe the cultural concept of honour, especially in the context of family and the men's role to protect the reputation of women in their family. The practice is found in South Asia where it is commonly practiced especially in North India and in Pakistan as well as in their diaspora communities. The concept of izzat is a theme that is portrayed in the film, but is not the main theme of the movie.

Known for comedic impressions, Valen has also pursued a serious music career; his pop music album Listen When Alone was released internationally in Europe and Asia. Mazyar Keshvari is an Iranian-born Norwegian former politician for the Progress Party and a convicted felon who is serving two prison sentences for fraud and violent threats. He was elected as a substitute member of the Norwegian parliament for the city of Oslo in 2013, representing the right-wing and anti-immigration Progress Party, and attended parliamentary sessions from 2013 to 2018 as the substitute of the mandate holder Siv Jensen who has been on leave from parliament during her government service. As a politician he was known for taking a hard stance on immigration, calling for a complete ban on further immigration to Norway, a stop to the practice of accepting asylum seekers in Norway, and the deportation of immigrants convicted of crimes. In 2019 he was convicted of aggravated fraud for defrauding the Norwegian parliament and in 2020 he was sentenced to 11 months imprisonment. He left the Norwegian parliament following his indictment in 2018 and also left the Progress Party in October 2019. In 2019 he was also arrested and charged with making violent threats, and he was convicted and sentenced to an additional four months in prison in 2020.

Mortal is a 2020 fantasy action film co-written and directed by André Øvredal. The film is inspired by Norse mythology, and stars Nat Wolff. It is supported by a grant from the Government of Norway. The film's dialogue is in English and Norwegian and most of the actors are Norwegian, with the exception of Wolff and Priyanka Bose. The film's original music by Marcus Paus was nominated for the Amanda Award and was the Norwegian nominee for the Nordic Film Music Days – HARPA Award.
Tomme Tønner is a Norwegian gangster comedy written and directed by Leon Bashir and Sebastian Dalén. The film premiered in Norway on 8 January 2010. The film got a sequel Tomme Tønner 2.
