Hofstra University is a private university in Hempstead, New York. Claxton won an NBA championship in 2003 as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. In 2013, he was named as a special assistant to the head coach for the Hofstra University men's basketball program, before being hired as head coach in 2021.

The Hofstra Law Review, an entirely student run organization, is the flagship law review of the Hofstra University School of Law. Robert Alan Baruch Bush is the Harry H. Rains Distinguished Professor of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Law at Hofstra University School of Law, Hempstead, New York. Together with Joseph Folger of Temple University he is the originator, and best known advocate, of the transformative model of mediation. He has authored over two dozen articles and books on mediation and ADR. Michael Anthony D'Amato is a former American football defensive back. A safety, he played college football at Hofstra University, and played professionally in the American Football League for the New York Jets in the 1968 season. That season, the Jets defeated the Oakland Raiders in the AFL Championship game, and went on to humble the heavily favored NFL champion Baltimore Colts in the third AFL-NFL World Championship game.
