Leonard Ramatlakane (born 16 February 1953 [1] ) is the former Minister of Community Safety in the Western Cape province of South Africa whilst an ANC member. [2] He also served as the acting Premier briefly after Marthinus Van Schalkwyk resigned in 2004. [3]

Whilst he was Provincial Minister for Safety and Security in 2004 Ramatlakane received death threats allegedly from the Chinese triads [4] following the arrest of suspected gang kingpin Quinton 'Mr Big' Marinus and after an increase in investigations into organised crime in the province. [5] Ramatlakane then controversially spent R347,716 of public money on enhancing security at his home. The Western Cape Provincial Parliament's standing committee on public accounts recommended that Ramatlakane pay the money back with both then opposition DA and the governing ANC voting against him. [4]

Ramatlakane resigned after the Premier Rasool was fired on 25 July 2008; he resigned as Community Safety MEC on 31 July 2008, making the way for the new Premier, Lynne Brown, to appoint her own MECs. [6] He was the spokesperson on Public Service and Administration for the Congress of the People.[ citation needed ] In 2014 it transpired that he had defected from COPE to ANC when his name appeared on the ANC's list of national parliamentary candidates published on 11 March 2013. The party was founded by former ANC members Mosiuoa Lekota, Mbhazima Shilowa and Mluleki George to contest the 2009 general election. The party was announced following a national convention held in Sandton on 1 November 2008, and was founded at a congress held in Bloemfontein on 16 December 2008. Lubabalo Oscar Mabuyane is a South African politician who has been serving as the 7th Premier of the Eastern Cape since May 2019. He became a Member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in February 2018. A member of the African National Congress, he has been serving as the Provincial Chairperson of the party since his election in October 2017. From May 2018 to May 2019, he served as the Eastern Cape MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism.

Following a cabinet reshuffle in March 2016, he was appointed the MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism. Solomon Patrick Mabilo is a South African politician from the Northern Cape who served as the Executive Mayor of the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality from 2018 to 2021. A member of the African National Congress (ANC), he served as a Member of the National Assembly from 2014 to 2017. He was a Member of Northern Cape Provincial Legislature from 2009 to 2014 and again in 2018. Mmoloki Saviour Cwaile is a South African politician who served as the North West MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs from November 2020 to August 2021. A member of the African National Congress, he has been a Member of the North West Provincial Legislature since February 2019. Cwaile had previously served as the chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Premier, Finance, Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs in the legislature.

Alexandra Jennifer Beukes is a South African politician who has been a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly since 12 June 2019. Prior to serving in the National Assembly, she was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and the mayor of the Khâi-Ma Local Municipality. Motlalepula Ziphora Rosho is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, she was elected deputy speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature in 2010. In 2012 she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism in the North West Provincial Government. Rosho was discharged from the executive council in 2014 and then served in the provincial legislature as a committee chairperson until December 2018, when she returned to the executive as MEC for Local Government and Human Settlement. Rosho was appointed as MEC for Finance after the 2019 elections.

Sakhumzi Stoffels Somyo is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress, he was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2014. He was then appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for the Finance, Economic Development, Environment and Tourism portfolio. In 2018, he was fired as an MEC. Somyo was elected to Parliament in 2019. Soon after, he was elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Auditor General.
