Let the Children Die is a 2009 album by Canadian hip hop artist D-Sisive. The album is produced by the likes of Muneshine, Norman Krates and The Arkeoligists, among others. Guest features include Classified, 9th Uno, Little Vic, Muneshine, Conscience, Krypios, Buck 65 and Guily Simpson.
The Canadian hip hop scene was first established in the 1980s. Through a variety of factors, it developed much more slowly than Canada's popular rock music scene, and apart from a short-lived burst of mainstream popularity from 1989 to 1991, it remained largely an underground phenomenon until the early 2000s.
Derek Christoff, better known by his stage name D-Sisive, is a Canadian rapper, best known for his Juno-nominated EP The Book, his hit single "Nobody with a Notepad" and his 2009 Polaris Music Prize-nominated album Let the Children Die.
Rob Bakker, better known by his stage name Muneshine, is a Canadian recording artist, record producer, DJ and mix engineer and performer.
The album was nominated for a 2009 Polaris Music Prize. "Nobody With a Notepad" won a 2012 Juno Award for rap recording of the year [4] and Socan's ECHO songwriting award in 2009. [5]
The 2009 edition of the Canadian Polaris Music Prize was presented on September 21, 2009 in Toronto at the Masonic Temple and broadcast live online for the first time in its short history. The award's eligibility period for 2009 covered albums released between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009.
The Juno Awards of 2012 honoured Canadian music industry achievements in the latter part of 2010 and in most of 2011. The awards were presented in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada during the weekend of 31 March and 1 April 2012. A week of related events began on 26 March 2012.
