Liam Ball was an Irish Olympic swimmer at both the 1968 Mexico City and 1972 Munich Olympic Summer Games, competing for Ireland in the Men's 100 metres Breaststroke and Men's 200 metres Breaststroke at each. He was born in Derry, Northern Ireland and was a past pupil of St. Columb's College in the city.

Eugene G. Oberst was an American football player, track and field athlete, coach of football and basketball, and college athletics administrator. Oberst was born the youngest of eleven children. A native of Owensboro, Kentucky, he played football at the University of Notre Dame in the 1920s under coach Knute Rockne, and competed in track and field as a javelin thrower. He won the Olympic bronze medal at the 1924 Summer Games in Paris. Oberst served as the head football coach at Washington and Lee University (1929–1930), Canisius College (1931–1932), and John Carroll University (1946).
Nyla Jane Carroll is a retired long-distance runner from New Zealand, who represented her native country in the women's 10,000 metres at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, United States. Carroll was also a member of the Kiwi team at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, where she ended up in fifth place in the women's marathon race.
