Liaqat Jafri (born 18 February 1971) is an Indian poet, scholar and researcher of Urdu. He has authored books and serves as editor of Alla Taleem magazine, published by Department of Higher Education, Government of Jammu and Kashmir. He represented Jammu and Kashmir in International Festivals and Mushairas held in UAE, South Asia and elsewhere. [1] His poems have gone viral including his popular poem about Narendra Modi. Early life

He was born in Poonch, a border district in Jammu and Kashmir.He did Ph.D. from University of Jammu in 2003 . Jafri presently lives in Jammu and Kashmir, serving in the Higher Education Department as Professor of Urdu in Jammu and Kashmir. [5] He is an alumnus of University of Jammu. [6]

Career

In 2014, he was appointed as Convenor by Jammu and Kashmir Government to head a Committee constituted for the "Promotion & Protection of Urdu Language in J&K" to formulate the constitution/ bylaws of Jammu and Kashmir Urdu Council. As an Urdu poet he traveled throughout the world in connection with Mushairas, conferences, seminars, etc. Di Liaqat was a member of the Urdu Syllabus experts of J&K State Board of School Education helping prepare textbooks in Urdu for Schools of Jammu and Kashmir. He served on national organisations, including Joint Secretary, Anjuman Taraqqi e Urdu Hind (J&K Chapter), general secretary, Krishan Chander Foundation for Art & Literature J&K, Secretary, Jammu Civil Society for Art & Literature Jammu, Convener, Molana Charagh Hasan Hasrat Award Committee J&K, Member, J&K Urdu Academy Srinagar, Member, Anjuman Farogh e Urdu Jammu and Member, Rangyug Theatre Group Jammu. Jagan Nath Azad Indian Urdu poet, writer and academician (1918–2004)

Jagan Nath Azad, was an Indian Urdu poet, writer and academician. He wrote over 70 books, including poetry collections, poems, biographies, and travelogues.

Amin Kamil (1924–2014) was a major voice in Kashmiri poetry and one of the chief exponents of modern ghazal in the language. His influence is widely accepted by his contemporaries and later generations. Kamil, besides being a poet, has also written short stories and a novel and works of literary criticism. He has also written a number of plays and musicals for the radio. His critically edited collection of Sufi poetry remains a definitive text which has been widely acclaimed. Gujari language Variety of Rajasthani spoken by the Gurjars

Gurjari, also known as Gujari, Gujri, Gojari, or Gojri, is a variety of Rajasthani spoken by the Gurjars and other tribes of India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Ali Jawad Zaidi

Syed Ali Jawad Zaidi was an Indian Urdu poet, scholar, and author of over 80 books in several languages. He was also an Indian independence activist, lawyer and later, a civil servant, but is best known for his work in Urdu literature.

Akhlaq Mohammad Khan, better known by his takhallusShahryar, was an Indian academician, and a doyen of Urdu poetry in India. As a Hindi film lyricist, he is best known for his lyrics in Gaman (1978) and Umrao Jaan (1981) directed by Muzaffar Ali. He retired as the head of Urdu Department at the Aligarh Muslim University, and thereafter he remained sought after name in mushairas or poetic gatherings, and also co-edited the literary magazine Sher-o-Hikmat.

Vijay Kumar Chopra

Ghulam Nabi Firaq Kashmiri poet, writer, educationist

Professor Ghulam Nabi Firaq was a Kashmiri poet, writer and an educationist. From the last fifty years he had been writing poetry and prose. In doing so he used, besides traditional ones, several poetic forms including blank verse, free verse, sonnets, quatrains, metric poems and lyrics. He also translated dozens of English poems of outstanding English poets into Kashmiri. As a result of all this, he enriched the expression of the language and made it more suitable for communicating his sensibility which in nature is modern. Besides, he had been writing essays and articles in Kashmiri language, which was his mother tongue, and which he had made the vehicle of expression from early fifties. As a literary critic and historian he had been trying to evaluate the Kashmiri poetry of the last five hundred years and rehabilitate it by bringing to prominence among other things its intrinsic merit and power of expression. He also holds the Sahitya Akademi Award for his works in Kashmiri literature. He is regarded as one of the very few people of Kashmir who has been trying to preserve the rich Kashmiri culture, heritage and language.

Kh Ghulam Haider Gagroo, also known as Qaiser Kishtwari, was a Kashmiri magistrate who composed poetry in the Kashmiri and Urdu languages. Dr Zaheer Uddin describes Qaiser Kishtwari as "a popular Kashmiri and Urdu poet; he wrote a number of poems and articles, including Islamic books."

Mohammad Aijaz Asad Indian Administrative Service officer

Mohammad AijazAsad is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer presently serving as Deputy Commissioner of Summer Capital District, Srinagar. Having taken charge of office on 18 March 2021 he immediately enforced very strict COVID-19 protocols in Srinagar. He took slew measures in the densely populated city and was successful in combating Covid Second wave. He was instrumental in installing a dozen Oxygen Plants in the Health Institutions in Srinagar during the Covid crisis. He diligently crafted augmentation of Bed capacity and ensured that every needy Covid patient from all Districts of the valley got bed whenever required. He also led from front in establishing Oxygen Sarai in Srinagar to meet the Oxygen demand at peak of Covid Crisis. Prior to this he has served as District Magistrate/Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Shopian, Poonch and Rajouri districts respectively in Jammu And Kashmir. He also held additional charge as DC Baramulla for a brief period. He is a 2012 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from AGMUT(J&K) cadre and hails from Dharana village located near Line of Control (LoC) in District Poonch of Jammu and Kashmir. He became first IAS officer from border district of Poonch in the year 2012. From December, 2019 to March 2021 Mr Aijaz held the charge of MD Kashmir Power Discom where public at large hailed him as “Power man of Kashmir” for extraordinary work in maintaining regular power supply during harsh winter months in Kashmir valley. He also evolved a speedy public grievance response mechanism by establishing an e-customer care centre at Bemina in Srinagar.

Ghulam Ahmad Fazil Kashmiri was a Kashmiri poet and lyricist. He was involved in Arabic, English, Persian, Urdu and particularly in Kashmiri literature. His uncertain work includes thirty six books published in various genres such as ghazal, nazm, rubaʿi, qata, marsiya, munajat, naʽat, manqabat and leela among others.

Dheeba Nazir is a Kashmiri-language writer hailing from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. She is the first girl from srinagar who got Yuva puruskar Sahitya Akademi Award for her book Zareen Zakham.

Bashir Bhadarwahi is an Indian writer, educationist and poet, known for his literary criticisms such as Jamis Ta Kasheeri Manz Kashir Natia Abduk Tawareekh. The recipient of numerous awards, including Sahitya Akademi Award, he writes in Kashmiri language.
