Elizabeth Tanner (born 1970) is an Australian stage and television actress best known for her roles as Bronwyn Craig in the television series All Saints and as Bridget Westfall in Wentworth .

Early life

Tanner grew up in Victoria, Australia, graduating from the University of Ballarat in 1993, with a Bachelor of Performing Arts. [1] She has an older brother. [2]

Career

Tanner began her career in theatre and made several guest appearances on Victorian based productions before landing her first big role as Zoe Marshall in the short lived Channel 9 soap Pacific Drive from 1996 to 1997. [3]

All Saints

Tanner then moved to Sydney, Australia to pursue more acting opportunities and in 1998, began starring in the hospital drama All Saints [4] as Bronwyn (Bron) Craig until she exited the series in 2003. Tanner's character was well received during her time on the show, winning Logie Awards for her role in 2002 and 2003. [3]

In 2004, after returning to Victoria, she starred in the short lived television series Fireflies and then the Australian drama series headLand from 2005 to 2006. [3]

From 2009 to 2011 she starred as Michelle LeTourneau in Rescue: Special Ops . [3]

Wentworth

In 2015 Tanner was announced for series three of Australian prison drama Wentworth , playing forensic psychologist Bridget Westfall. She appeared from seasons three to six, departing the series in 2018, Tanner has since appeared regularly at Wentworth fan conventions in the UK and US. [5]

Other projects

In 2020, Tanner was announced as part of the cast for Amazon Prime series Back to the Rafters . [6]

Tanner has her own theatre company, 'Mad as Us'. [7]

Awards

During her run on All Saints, she gained a total of seven Logie nominations in categories including Most Popular New Female Talent and Most Outstanding Actress and Best Personality on Australian Television. Tanner won Most Popular Actress Logie Awards in 2002 and 2003 for her role as Bron. [3]

Personal life

Tanner was previously in a relationship with All Saints co-star Brian Vriends with whom she shares a daughter. [8] She has two other children. [7]

She currently resides in Ballarat, Victoria. [9]

Wentworth is an Australian television drama series. It was first broadcast on SoHo on 1 May 2013, and it concluded on Fox Showcase with its 100th episode on 26 October 2021. The series serves as a contemporary reimagining of Prisoner, which ran on Network Ten from 1979 to 1986. Lara Radulovich and David Hannam developed Wentworth from Reg Watson's original concept. Bridget Westfall is a recurring character in Australian television drama Wentworth. Bridget is introduced as the prison's new psychologist to help the inmates. She is portrayed by Libby Tanner. Bridget is notable for her relationship with Franky Doyle, which proved popular with fans of the television series. Other main storylines have involved Bridget's friendship with prison officer/governor Vera Bennett, Bridget's support and assistance to other prisoners, and helping to reveal Ferguson's true colors.

Georgia Chara is an Australian television and theatre actress. After starting her acting career in her twenties, she made guest appearances in various television series', including Bed of Roses, Killing Time and Mr & Mrs Murder. In 2013, Chara was cast as Jess Lockwood in Home and Away. She also joined the cast of Wentworth in the starring role of Jess Warner. Chara appeared in the second and third seasons. In 2015, Chara starred as Wednesday in comedy series Sammy J & Randy in Ricketts Lane and made a guest appearance in Neighbours. She also made her stage debut in a production of Exit the King.
