Liberation Institute is a Christian academic institution located in Calamba, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. The institute currently offers Pre-Elementary, Grade School, and High School.
The school was founded on March 18, 1946 by members of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines. The school was named as such because the founding was briefly before the Philippines became an independent nation (July 4, 1946)1, hence the name "Liberation." It was recognized by the Philippine government as an institution of higher education in the same year that it was founded, with recognition No. 165.
In 1996, the school celebrated its golden anniversary and in the following year, its name was changed to Liberation Christian School. However, due to public clamor for the retention of the old name, the administration finally decided to restore again the name, Liberation Institute.

The Colegio de San Juan de Letran, also referred to by its acronym CSJL, is a private Catholic coeducational basic and higher education institution owned and run by the friars of the Order of Preachers in Intramuros, Manila, Philippines. It was founded in 1620. Colegio de San Juan de Letran has the distinction of being the oldest college in the Philippines and the oldest secondary institution in Asia. The school has produced Philippine presidents, revolutionary heroes, poets, legislators, members of the clergy, jurists, and it is also one of the only Philippine schools that has produced several Catholic saints who lived and studied on its campus. The school's patron saint is St. John the Baptist. Beta Sigma Omega Phi is a service fraternity and sorority founded at University of Bohol on October 10, 1968. This was organized by Frank Paz Jr., Frederick Loor, and Remy Galbizo. Their aims were to foster lifetime brotherhood and sisterhood and to build noble leaders and better citizens. Members are encouraged to promote the welfare of students and to work for better and greater involvement in the affairs of the school as well as in the community. The organization facilitates a variety of community civic involvement, and services like tree planting, feeding programs, bloodletting, operation tuli, and lately the Brigada Eskwela. Betans 1968 have established 72 collegiate chapters throughout Philippines; most of these are on the island of Mindanao.
Misamis Occidental's 1st congressional district is one of the two congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Misamis Occidental. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987. The district encompasses the northern half of the province consisting of its capital, Oroquieta, and the municipalities of Aloran, Baliangao, Calamba, Concepcion, Jimenez, Lopez Jaena, Panaon, Plaridel and Sapang Dalaga. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Jason P. Almonte of the PDP–Laban.
